Conclusion: The Archos 101 G9 has undeniable media playing credentials, especially when it comes to video. We love how the Remote Control app works, allowing you to control the tablet’s media features from an Android phone. The optional 3G stick is a great idea as well, and the fact it can be used as a mobile broadband dongle elsewhere is a versatile move. However the 101 G9 doesn’t stand up in other areas.
Pros: Great price point, Detachable 3G dongle, High resolution screen
Cons: Unresponsive screen, Slow performance, Not great build quality
Conclusion: What this boils down to is a tablet that’s hard to judge in overall terms. If you like swanky hardware you probably won’t like the Archos 101 G9. If you are looking for something primarily for media consumption you probably will. If you want a great camera you’ll be disappointed.
Excerpt: The Archos 101 G9 tablet has been available since the end of last year, but it's one of the first tablets to receive an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which makes it one of the most up-to-date tablets available. There's a choice of storage options: either 8GB or 16GB flash memory models, or a 250GB hard disk version which is thicker and heavier. Our sample, a Turbo model, also comes with faster processor than the original, up from 1.2GHz to 1.5GHz.

Summary: Certain things take a long time, this certainly in one such item, I remember seeing a pre production unit in the late spring with promise that it would ship in September 2011 but it arrived with me after the start of 2012.
Conclusion: Android tablets are something of a minefield. The unique proposition of the Archos tablet is that it delivers the Honeycomb experience at a price that's hard to beat. It also, undoubtedly, offers the widest diversity of format support in any tablet we've seen so far. It is indeed a capable video playback device and if this is high on your list of priorities, then the Archos G9 should be up for consideration.
Pros: Plays pretty much every video format, HDMI, 3G option is inventive
Cons: Build quality, design, display, some software foibles, battery issues, failure to play Flash video
