"After going though 5 in a little over a year I'm done!"
9 June 2013
Pros: I size is good- it's smaller than an I-pad making it easier to carry around. For the price difference it's such a better deal than an I-pad.
Cons: Battery port breaks. Not rough on it but I've gone though 5 a year. My last one only lasted 2 months. I liked my first kindle better than the new hd which has a worse web browsers and does weird thing like unzooming and going back a page on websites.
Excerpt: Not interested in this product, for kids and not the serious tablet user. Needs a bit more work and not liking the modified android tablet type environment. Price is high for what you get. Should stick to an IPAD if you really want a good experience with a tablet.
Excerpt: I got one of these and really don't like it, thought it would have more to offer than the regular kindle but it really doesn't have much more than the regular kindle, I am very disappointed with the way this works and as for the wifi it is not that great when out somewhere. It works ok at home where I have wireless set up but outside the house and in public it really is not that great, runs very slow and really not worth the price.
Summary: After wasting 2 hours of my life with this contraption, have finally managed to clear all personal details so it can be returned. bought for my Sons birthday but never mind at least he will get a birthday card tomorrow! Would not recommend this product, as like so many other people the device freezes and restarts continuously. Maybe Amazon could concentrate on making just one version that actually works.
Summary: Anyone familiar with previous versions of the Fire HD will know it was one of the most cost effective and simple to use devices capable of making HD Skype calls. However, if you buy the latest "upgrade" you will find no camera and no support for Skype as Amazon have, for some bizarre reason, chosen to remove both in the current version.
