I like it.

  • Excerpt: Upgraded from a 7" Kindle Fire 1st generation, which I found to be a very durable and handy little tablet. My grandson now has it and it is still working great. The new larger one is a little bulky to handle and carry in comparison, but easy to get used to the larger screen and more storage capacity. I use it daily for reading and playing games. The larger screen is also much better for displaying guitar tabs.
  • Pros: Attractive Design, Compact Design, Durable, Easy To Read, Good Screen Quality, Great Software Bundle
  • Cons: Short Battery Life

Love my Kindle Fire HD 8.9-16GB

Debster, Staples
10 January 2014
  • Excerpt: Very easy to navigate. I had a nook first edition before. It did not light up which made it hard to read. I wanted the Kindle Fire because it does have a lit screen. Easy to download games and books. I can surf the web or check my email. I almost don't need my laptop. The biggest drawback for me is all the ads that are displayed. It would probably be worth it to pay the extra $40 or $50 so the ads would not display. I have ads pop up every couple of minutes.
  • Pros: Attractive Design, Compact Design, Durable, Easy To Navigate, Easy To Read, Good Compatibility, Good Screen Quality, Great Software Bundle
  • Cons: Short Battery Life, Too Many Ads

Love it. Definitely like the 8.9"screen.

  • Excerpt: I use it mostly for email and games. The race car games are not as smooth of response as the HDX we got for my daughter, but it is still really great. My wife likes to watch her TV shows on it from bed. Some apps do freeze at times, but the ones I have an issue with look like everyone has the same issue, independent of the device used. I have found that the memory, video and battery intensive games work best in airplane mode.
  • Pros: Attractive Design, Easy To Read, Good Compatibility, Good Screen Quality
  • Cons: Blockheads App Freezes

Good deal

  • Excerpt: Really love the kindle. Gave my mom mine so then I needed one! My mom hijacked mine to play games on. I have been able to download hundreds of free books. It is amazing that I can play Words with Friends with my daughter in OHIO. We use it to do presenations for our business. We take it along and it is better than carrying the lap top to show potential brokers our business. It is easy to use and download games, books and search the web with.
  • Pros: Easy To Read, Good Compatibility, Long Battery Life

Finally did something for myself

Mom who misses reading, Staples
8 January 2014
  • Excerpt: I usually focus more on my kids for Christmas, and all year long, than I do for myself. I finally asked for this and my family happily obliged. I love to read and have already started a new book on it. It reads very well. I have also got hooked on a few games so when the chores are done, I can sit and play like the rest of the family. Very relaxing. Excellent gift!

Pretty Close To What You Would Expect

Pedro BC, Staples
11 December 2013
  • Excerpt: This is a pretty solid tablet for email, browsing and entertainment. If you get it with Amazon Prime then you can access lots of content for movies and books. The display is easy on the eyes. I am disappointed they did not include a charger, just a USB cable. The battery life is OK, but not great as might be expected with the level of display it has. It would have been worth the difference to not have the constant ads.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, The Display Is Very Good
  • Cons: Ads Are A Pain, Charger Not Included
