Summary: I PURCHASED THIS KINDLE ON 5/6/13 AND NEEDED A REPLACEMENT WHICH I RECEIVED ON 10/3/13. I HAVE ISSUES OF IT SHUTTING OFF SEVERAL TIMES IN THE COURSE OF USING IT ANYWHERE FROM INSTANTLY TO A COUPLE OF HOURS AT A TIME. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE A FEW TIMES TO NO AVAIL.
Excerpt: Bought this yesterday to use on a family vacation. Surprised to see only a usb charging chord in box. Hooked it up to laptop usb port before trip and during the first day but battery just kept depleting. Would not charge via usb even when tablet was turned off.
Excerpt: At first I loved my Kindle Fire HD. Then the limitations hit. (1) Movies copied over from my network wouldn't play on native video player; solution pay seven dollars for an upgraded player. Complication: now any streaming source won't play, no hulu, no you tube, no prime instant videos.
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy To Read, Good Screen Quality
Excerpt: Purchasing The Kindle Fire HD 8.9" was released on November 20, 2012. I received it on December 25, 2012 as a Christmas present from my dad. However, I do know that it was purchased from Amazon for somewhere around $160. The packaging was great and the device was very secure in its box.
Pros: good for reading, nice graphics
Cons: shuts down, not fully developed, bad battery life
Summary: My kindle fire hd 8.9 keeps freezing. Very frustrating. I suspect it's a problem with the Silk browser. There is also a standard kindle fire 7" in use in the house with no problems whatever. Amazon support not helpful, just pointed me to the online help!
Summary: after purchasing my kindle fire I was disappointed, and still am, to find that I cannot still load games onto it from the Amazon web site. I have tried in vane to contact Amazon but no joy. All I keep getting is I need to reload the app.
Would be five stars except for one important thing

Summary: Adverts and info all seem to say that the Kindle Fire and Audible work well together, and as audiobooks are one of the reasons we wanted one of these, I happily went ahead and purchased for my husband.
