Summary: Slowest computer I ever had. I hate Window Metro. I don't like that there is only 4gb RAM. That seems to be the bottleneck. It logs in very fast, but once I get to my desktop, I must wait a minute or so before using it. This mostly is from the Windows 8.1 update. Before that, it was faster. Here is an example: I have an iPad mini in sleep mode and this tablet is on. I start Netflix and get the spinning wheel.
Summary: I love the portability, the power, and the flexibility of this machine (but those are all reasons to love a tablet pc). I hate the included keyboard case though. It is too hard to get the machine in and out, which means I almost never use the docking station. Instead, I have a ton of cords, connectors, and hubs that I have to keep up with instead of everything being connected to the dock.
Summary: I had to disable the touchscreen out of frustration. I now use it docked and connected to an external monitor, keyboard and mouse. The problem is, the left side of the screen randomly register touches at intervals. Initially, I would log off and log in to "fix" the issue temporarily, but that doesn't work anymore. I would have sent it back if I were not living overseas now.
Summary: I bought this to use as a traveling computer so I didn't have to drag my laptop all over. Windows 8 takes some getting used to as the functoinality is totally diffferent (I'm sure you already knew that!) I still like using the mouse as I don't get the pinpoint accuracy from touch screens that I am used to, a little old school I suppose. The processor can't keep up with the mouse and there is a horendous lag.
Summary: lets start with the cons : 1 did you ever heard of a tablet nowadays that doesn't have a screenshot button ?!!! yup it doesn't and the windows button + volume down does not work here .. and acer does not give a **** about what you think 2 for some reason always the first tap on the screen is not felt 3 also windows button need a strong push to work 4 sound quality is not good 5 battery live 5 hours if you use it for browsing on power saving mode and 3-2 hours if watching...
Potentially great tablet for a techie/knowledgeable individual
29 October 2013
Summary: While this tablet is arguably one of the best high quality and value windows 8 tablets out there, the flaws limit the customers to technical people. Here is my review after 6 months of usage. If you want something that works perfectly out of the box and without ever having to do anything to it, this device is not for you.
Summary: The Acer Iconia W700 is a fairly nice computer but the implementation of Windows 8 is poorly executed. In my opinion it's a horiffic disaster. The idea is to use a touch screen instead of a mouse and cursor, but you'll find that there are a few buttons out there that don't respond to tapping with your finger. You can tap all day and nothing happens, until you connect a mouse and invoke the cursor, at which time you can click and do what you want.
Summary: Edit: I am editing the post as the main con of this device turned to be a driver problem, that is recently fixed (see the comments). I am now rating the device 3 stars. Pros: - price - well build and well thought design - extra items in the set, that are actually usable: \ a dock stand \ good quality leather case \ a bluetooth keyboard \ microHDMI to VGA adapter Cons: - had a known Wireless issue, that recently turned to be a driver problem, but for almost an year the...
