flimsy power switch makes tablet into paper weight
4 December 2012
Summary: A great tablet but it has one very bad flaw, the power button is fragile and will break 9/10 times after a short period. The actual switch itself is very ,very tiny and fixed to the motherboard and is about 1/2 size of a a chicklet and has 2 small tabs holding it in place. When the power switch breaks the unit is worthless and almost impossible to repair.
Summary: I loved my A500 until three days ago when I upgraded to android version 4.0.3. After that upgrade, my table would shut down rather than sleep. Apps that used to work no longer would. I did a factory reset and reinstalled my apps, only to find that the same issues still existed. Android 4.0.3 is still my operating system and I cannot use this tablet the way I have been. Acer really dropped the ball on this one.
Summary: This tablet is priced low for a reason! It always crashes has a horrable screen and has way to many bugs to even count. I bought this because the specs seemed pretty resonible for the price and at first it ran great! But after about 1 month of using it everything went downhill,it would randomly turn off, the volume rocker just FELL out, every app crashes, takes forever to connect to WiFi. The only good thing about this tablet is the battery life.

Summary: I really liked the way this tablet functioned. Even though it was my first tablet, I was impressed with it's feel and speed. I was NOT happy with it's inability to connect and stay connected to a wireless network. I tried a software fix (static IP, didn't work) and was seriously considering breaking open the case when I came to realize I had purchased an expensive piece of electronic equipment that didn't work. So I returned it to Amazon.
Summary: After owning this tablet for 3 months now I would have to say that I am less than impressed with this Acer product. There is a known microphone level bug when using the tablet for video chat that causes the microphone level to be so low that the other person cannot hear you. Also, I can feel an electrical charge when the tablet is charging by running my finger across the aluminum case (this is NOT good). The tablet also has issues with very poor wifi reception.
Summary: This seems like a very nice tablet. HDMI and USB connectivity is a big plus. But if your ISP is Verizon FIOS, wireless does not connect to this tablet. It connected fine using my network at work but at home and at other local homes and open wi-fi establishments that use FIOS, it will not connect. Acer customer service was no help and gave up. Verizon said they have heard of this conflict with Acer products before.
Summary: disappointed that camcorder microphone does not work worth a darn. called Acer. Auto customer service never gets me anywhere. voice keeps saying, Do you mean Microsoft? They don't want to talk about it.
Summary: I've had my Acer tablet now for several months and I can honestly say this is nothing more than a toy. It is not even close to being ready for prime time (serious computer work). Don't ever think it can be used for serious computer work. The default web browser is buggy and often it will just stop working and throw you out to the desktop. If you choose to use the browser, don't do anything serious with it. Just use it for playing around.
