Tablets

Raven, Amazon
29 December 2013
  • Summary: Where do I begin to describe how much I hate this thing. First of all it doesn't support Adobe Flash Player so I can't play games on Pogo or most other game websites. Then it will not allow me to customize my wallpaper without cropping all pictures which then leaves about an inch by inch picture on a 10 inch screen with a bunch of black surrounding. It's much too heavy to hold comfortably for reading books.

Beware, buy at your own risk

Christie L. Schwab, Amazon
28 January 2013
  • Summary: I bought this in Oct as a Xmas present but at Xmas it didnt work correctly. I tried everything, couldnt even restore it. LSI says they wont fix because it was 3 months old and Acer wont fix because it was refurbished. Not sure it was refurbished if it doesnt work, so i have a $200.00 paper weight. Beware! Buy at your own risk. I gave 1 star because the paper weight looks good.

After 1 year...avoid like the plague

Joe from Colorado, Amazon
25 January 2013
  • Summary: This was a very nice tablet for 13 months. Did everything I wanted, received update to ICS, I was a happy camper. Then yesterday, it wouldn't boot--got stuck on the Acer logo screen. I figured a soft reset would take care of it. Nope, nor would a hard (factory default/wipe) reset.

Please don't waste your money on this

svishi "-sv", Amazon
13 December 2012
  • Summary: I purchased this unit about 10 months ago and gave it to my parents. They are not tech-savvy by any means but I figured this tablet was easy enough to use. A month ago, I upgraded the unit to ICS from Acer's website (which by the way is not a simple process). After a month in, the tablet completely locked up and froze at the "Acer" boot screen. I followed all the online instructions of trying to give it a hard reset to no avail.

ACER Refurb's - stay the heck away

Astrobuf, Amazon
24 August 2012
  • Summary: So I purchased an ACER A500 Tablet. Great piece of hardware, but a horrible company. The problem is, ACER will not provide ANY customer support for any device which is "refurbished" The first thing customer service does is check the SN. If it is registered as a refurbed unit, they will not answer a question or even offer a "paid" repair. They fob you off to the refurbishment company and tell you any service or support is their problem.

Don't waste your money on Acer! SEE UPDATE!!!

ADignorantium "FD", Amazon
5 May 2012
  • Summary: *** UPDATE November 2013 *** I can no longer recommend Acer products! A few weeks ago, my A500 crashed. It wasn't the first time. So I restarted it like usual, but it never got past the Acer logo screen. After trying to restart is several times, I thought perhaps a 'hard reset' was in order.

Quit after just a few uses!

Gin and Tonik, Amazon
29 January 2012
  • Summary: My unit will only turn on to an Acer screen after about a dozen uses. Didn't even get that many apps installed. Went through all the reboot options and still won't go past that. Called Acer tech support on a Saturday and was able to get someone. Tech support was friendly and helpful but could not resolve the issue. I now have to package it up and send it in for repair.

Kengraghu, Amazon
5 November 2011
  • Summary: After long thoughts and reviews about purchasing a tablet, war between iPad 2 and Acer / Xoom went for Acer. Reasons for purchase: 32 GB at $470 including tax and delivery. Extendable memory option. Had an Acer Laptop, and was happy with Acer product. Full USB, Mini USB, 8 hours battery, HDMI and Dolby stereo, also read about rooting to use USB Dongle. Decided to go for Acer. Received the product very quickly.

  • Summary: if you can control the urge to use the A500 when first purchased...charge the battery completely before turning it on. I get about 10 to 11 hours of batterly life on each charge. get a tight fitting case to protect the A500. super antenna for the WIFI...it seems to grab the strongest signal and locks it in unless you command it to change. I use for work and home use and it has never given me a bit of a problem.
  • Pros: great battery life if charged properly when first purchased. great screen quality. great video quality
  • Cons: none so far after 2 months of ownership.
