A/S 3: A true allseason performance tire
Summary: I have a 2014 MINI Roadster S. I have been driving since 1962 and autocrossing with success since 1995. I have driven on extreme performance tires, r-compound tires, and racing slicks, both dry and wet. Yesterday I brought home a set of 205/50-16 A/S 3's in the rain. Today it rained harder and I found the standing water puddle on my most driven back road.
Summary: Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 - The new A/S 3 replaced the second generation A/S Plus, that began to slightly chunk it's tread with only 16,000 miles (3/32nd's of wear) on the tires and caused a slight front-end vibration on my Mercedes CLK430. It is very rare when Michelin makes a mistake on engineering, but many had issues with the A/S Plus. Not a problem, as Michelin stood by their warrany and the tire dealer correctly pro-rated the tires.
Summary: Replaced OEM tires with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 on my 2011 Mazda MX-5 and immediately noticed a difference in handling, quietness and control. Car holds the road like it's on tracks. After researching thoroughly I believe the Michelins can't be beat for safety, longevity and quality of ride for a Mazda Miata/MX-5. I have about 1000 miles on the tires and feel much more confident driving now.
Summary: I have had several sets of these tires on several Jaguars - with great results until my last set. I only got 15,000 miles out of tires that normally go well beyond the 45,000 warranty. My driving is a mix of freeway and in-town. I am very surprised the last set went so fast. They replaced a set that went 55,000 miles. What has changes about these tires?
Summary: I have always used Michlens on everything. The dealer talked me into Brid/turanz Serenity plus tires with a money back guarantee. The tires flat spotted when COLD for about 2 miles, and at high speeds over 100 MPH would vibrate very hard. I instslled the Pilot AS3s all vibrations were gone cold start smooth, 100 to 155 MPH limiter are smooth and very quite. Will NEVER buy anything else again. PS. pulled the Bridgestones after 5,000 miles.
Summary: Purchased tires after reading all the websites and they sounded perfect. They did do a great job through the winter, but after 10k two tire need replaced, and 4k later the other two. Car was aligned at purchase, and tire were rotated at the next oil change. I wish I could say my wife races ever weekend, but just back and forth to work. The OEM tires made to 40k.
Summary: I had these tires installed on my Audi A6 4.2 and they are a lot noisier than the other tires I have had on this car. The gas mileage is also a lot worse than my previous Michelins. My cabin used to be super quiet and now I hear a loud buzzing noise coming from the front tires.
Summary: I have had the pleasure of owning Michelin Pilot Sport tires for several years, the last set that I bought is for a 2013 Mini. I replaced the Conti's that came from the dealer which only lasted 40K miles. The Pilot Sport A/S tires handle better on the curves, are tremendously quieter than the Continentals (which really surprised me), and, saving the best for last, the Mini doesn't rely on the Traction Control to stay in the road when it's raining. YAY!!!
Summary: if you only have a few thousand miles on these tires you should wait to review; handling is as promised, sharp and great grip. Ride was rough from day one on my Infiniti g37X. Drove them through the winter and now have 23K miles. Wear on shoulder of all 4 is bad, and getting a wap wap sound from one tire. Rotated in Sept. and treadwear is significant. ALL tires should last more then 22K miles unless they're for racing.
Summary: When I switched from my OEM Michelin RTF to A/S tires, i was expecting smoother, quiter ride. However, overall quality of ride was not as good as the original tires. It was very noisy as well. Had trouble getting replacements within 30 days because of staggered wheel sizes on my BMW sports package and summer tires were out of production. I do not recommend these tires if you have a BMW 3 series with sports package. Heard good review about pilot sport summer tires.
