Summary: This is a nice mic for rehearsals or impromptu performances. The sound quality may not be good for a feature film or even an indie film, but you could be very creative and use it for some great environmental sounds. For me, it has provides a useful tool for songwriting. The mic really is a condenser and works well. It is omnidirectional and really does a great job of taming and panning all instruments and frequencies in the mix.
Pros: Clear Sound, Compact, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Versatile
Summary: I recently used this Sony microphone for recording a piano class rehearsal with my minidisc recorder. Hey, it sounded pretty good. It has fairly good stereo separation. There is some hiss, but the signal is clear enough to retain some hi-fidelity quality about it. Does it sound like a professional mic? Probably not. But it serves the semi-professional/hobbyist's needs. This mic will help me get through until I can afford the Zoom H4 recorder.
