Great mic

  • Excerpt: I use this mic with my Sony FDR-AX33 and it does improve sound recording, mostly because of the 120 degree adjustment, allowing it to record better stereo sounds. It does disable manual control in the camera but there is a switch to switch between normal and low cut recording.

  • Excerpt: it does offer pretty good audio but unfortunately it also adds noise in all your recordings. More noise than the built in camera mic....so I had to return it. I was using it with the A6000.
  • Pros: Compact, Easy To Use, Lightweight
  • Cons: Limited Functions, Poor Sound Quality, Pricey / Poor Value

better than expected

11 January 2015
  • Excerpt: As a user of Sony devices for 40 years, I was expecting this to be another good product, and it is. Top-pointed mics, even on my amazing Sony RX10, just don't cut it - mics need to be facing the same direction the lens is pointing, particularly for subtle and distant sounds which are common in...

Bought for increased capability.

  • Excerpt: So far it seems to work. I had limited options for the camera I own. It is a little clumsy to apply to the shoe, and it has a little give which should help absorb bumps or fast panning. I wish it had a light to let me know it was active, however.

  • Excerpt: For the price this is a great piece of equipment. Worth it, if you don't have a port on your camera then you won't be able to adjust the settings manually, but it works well on auto
