Solid choice for professional wired lavs

  • Excerpt: We bought two of these four months ago for a weekly TV news program and other projects and thus far have no complaints. The get constant use and seem very well built. They sound great: clear, nice tonal range, low background noise. We've used them connected to an external recorder as well as plugged directly into cameras (using long XLR cables.) They come with nice cases and the clips are all-metal. If you're okay with battery only mics these are a great choice.
  • Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Great Sound Quality

Quality mic.

  • Excerpt: Used for taping interviews. Excellent sound quality. Battery lasts a very long time, but remember to take it out - there's no on-off switch. Would recommend buying one or two additional black foam pop filters, since these tend to become lost if you are not careful.

Top-notch, clear sound.

  • Excerpt: Yes the 77-B is better, but the sound quality of this little guy is probably top of the line for the price. I use it conjunction with a Beachtek *passive* adapter and the mic-level mini plug input on my Panasonic AG-HMC-40. Low hiss, though it doesn't put out quite a strong enough signal for the miniplug input on my Tascam DR-05, so be aware of this should you want to interfacs it over non-XLR into a recorder.

A great mic as always

  • Excerpt: I have been using the Sony ECM-44B in my studio work for years. It has always had great fidelity and response. If you use these just watch out for two things. One, there is no ON/OFF switch so you need to remove the battery to keep it from discharging when not in use. Many engineers will put the battery in backward to store it but the case has a place for a battery so your don't have to. Two, the weak spot on this mic is the cable coming out of the battery case.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Great Sound Quality, Lightweight, Long Lasting
  • Cons: Cable, No onoff switch
