Excellent inexpensive microphone

natchezian, Ebay
13 May 2010
  • Summary: I did a side by side comparison of the PG57 with my SM57 and SM58. There was no noticable difference. Anything you can do with an SM57 you can do with the PG57. Rock on!

You get about what you pay for.

Alex W., music123

  • Summary: This mic does its job reasonably well. I've used it for just about everything a small band would do. It works on most everything; it needed a good bit of EQ help when in the bass drum, but sounded fine with that. I've tried overhead mic-ing my drums and this mic does not do a very good job of picking up the cymbals; they are either not there of way too faint. This mic does work well with vocals though. They could sell this thing as a vocal mic as far as I can tell.

"not good for drums."

zzounds.com
3 January 2005
  • Excerpt: i tried as an overhead for drums, picks up a lot of low end hum type of noise when close to the cymbals, and if far (10" or more) it doesn't pick up unless gain applied. can not record decent acustic guitar either.
