  • Excerpt: I use this microphone for judges tables and podiums with fantastic results. The 18" neck gives a lot of room for adjustment while providing close micing when it's needed. The sound quality and reliability of this microphone surpass many other options.

Use for church

ETK, B&H Photo
16 September 2014
  • Excerpt: I have used this same product for last eight years. I leave the mic attached to pulpit. Use with a limiter compressor so volume does not change as the speaker get closer or farther from mic while talking. This shure model is a rugged mic and should last for years and years.
  • Pros: Clear Sound, Durable, Lightweight

10 June 2014
  • Excerpt: The micro flex is my go to podium mic for corporate shows and for judges tables at battle of the bands/has talent type shows. Great frequency response and even has a push to mute button on the desktop module. The 18" mic gives excellent flexibility as far as height and can work in many situations.

Nice pulpit mic

John in Alabama, B&H Photo
13 May 2014
  • Excerpt: We added this as a second mic on the pulpit in our church, to match the one that was already there. These mics are terrific and have great sound reproduction. The shock mount isolates the mic very well from the minister's contact with the surface. I like the fact that the gooseneck is flexible only at the base and tip of the unit, to keep it from becoming crooked and unsightly as it is reinstalled and removed from week to week.
  • Pros: Clear Sound, Easy To Use, Lightweight

One of the best podium microphones I have found.

realdrummer, Ebay
4 April 2014
  • Summary: The key feature on this microphone is get one with the WL-185 cardiod microphone element. The Shure WL-185 cardioid microphone element shows up in a number of Shure microphone models, including lapel style mics, conference style mics, and this MX418 goose neck style podium microphone. The WL-185 microphone element is very natural sounding and can be EQ'd to eliminate feedback problems, while still sounding very natural.

  • Summary: It was exactly what we expected... And the case was a very useful addition. Works best in low ambient noise situations,.. not always available to us, even with the super cardioid capsule.

Great Sounding Audio Mic

tommyd, B&H Photo
9 November 2013
  • Excerpt: I was asked to buy a vocal mic for our Church service. During a usual Sunday we have a few different people who speaker with a variety of vocal tones. The Shure MX418DC with its 18" gooseneck is sensitive and forgiving. It picks up the soft speakers and handles our Pastors big booming voice with very little adjustment to the actual sound system. It also has an off and on switch on the base that easily mutes sound.
