Excerpt: After recording vocals with this microphone, I adjust the EQ gain knobs, and the middle-high band consistently has a "tin can" sound, and the gain on that band has to be lowered. The band between low and middle also becomes muddled and loses clarity if you increase the EQ gain, less so if you decrease the gain.
Summary: I bought the Shure 55SH Series II a couple of months ago. More as a trophy to myself, I'vealways wanted one. After getting it and testingit. I would say its best applications would befor a live stage performance, or public address. However, it is a stretch to say it works well in a studio atmosphere. It takes quite a bit of processing to get it to sound good. It's muchhigher in the mid-range than I expected.
Excerpt: Good sound! SHURE microphones in general hold the highest quality in sound. Not only is this microphone the super model chick of microphone hottness it sounds amazing and clear. Everyone can be a rock star with this mic.
Summary: I bought this mic purely on the style and the shure brand name. This mic is extremely well built and weighs a tonne. the only set back with it is that it is a little bass heavy and adjustments need to be made via amp/pa to get the correct tone. other than that it is a stylish 50's style mic that does the job its designed to do.
Summary: Looks great, sounds great, usual Shure build quality. Ive tried this with two different vocalists now, male and female and it was hard to get the male singer to part with his trusty SM58 but the female singer loves this thing and can't see past it now. Great product at a great price.
Summary: Been after one of these mikes for ages. Always unsure who made them and model number. I happened to be in Guildford were a street busker was using one. The quality and excuse the pun spoke for itself. A nice piece of kit. Excellent.
