  • Excerpt: I may just not understand, but I got very low levels from this mic. Another shure mic with very similar specifications gave me good levels. So, I would not recommend this particular mic.
  • Pros: Compact, Lightweight
  • Cons: Poor Sound Quality, Unreliable

Good mic

  • Excerpt: Simple to use and good quality. Using it with a Crown 180MAx 70V XM Tuner Mixer-Amp, which requires 3-pin Phoenix-type connector for several inputs, including microphone. Had that connected and hooked-up to the amp in less than 5 minutes.
  • Pros: Clear Sound, Compact, Easy To Use, Lightweight

Good choice for QRP SSB

  • Summary: I got a version of this microphone for $25 from All Electronics several months ago, with no particular application in mind. Just seemed like a good price. Since then I built an Elecraft K2 and decided to use this mic for the K2 SSB option. The mic had been built with a strange wiring arrangement because it was for some 3rd party equipment, but after reversing the PTT leaf spring and doing a bit of rewiring, I had everything to the Shure 514B spec.
