fantastic short shotgun

  • Excerpt: What can I say? You get what you pay for. I bought this to use on my Canon C100 as a camera mic and to detatch and boom with because I wanted top quality sound with a low profile. Well, I got it. Sounds amazing, and it's amazingly small. I shoot mainly documentary, and I can't tell you how many shots I have of people staring above the camera at an indimidating long shotgun mic. I wanted great sound, but without making people feel like they had a gun pointed at them.
  • Pros: Clear Sound, Compact, Durable, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Versatile
  • Cons: Pricey / Poor Value

So far, so good

  • Excerpt: I have used it a few times and by no means am I a pro with this mic (yet). The sounds are clear as the environment allows it. Don't expect magic if the source is already questionable but this will capture what is there in a natural way. Cons, of course, will be the price. The results have yet to overcome the price that I have paid for it but only time will tell.
  • Pros: Clear Sound, Compact, Durable, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Versatile
  • Cons: Price

Great for run & gun and quality sound

Gary, B&H Photo

  • Excerpt: I chose the MKH 8060 shotgun to use with my Canon XF100 for run & gun situations. It is a great match for size and weight. It is only 7 inches long. I have only used the mic a few times so I cannot comment on the sound quality yet, however I understand that it is comparable to the MKH-416, which is an excellent mic.
  • Pros: Clear Sound, Compact, Durable, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Versatile

Great! Needs figure-8 match for M/S tho

  • Excerpt: Beautiful, clean and clear sounding. I use this mic for recording bird songs in the Pacific NW. It yields a nice, finely detailed recording that I've been pleased to see extends well above 32k (as visualized in iZotope's RX, recorded at 96k and 192k). I hadn't even realized birds had harmonics that high... Off-axis rejection is excellent, making recording in noisy environments possible when other mics were failing.
  • Pros: Clear Sound, Detailed, Durable, Easy To Use, Extended Highs, Lightweight, Versatile

Great Mic, Directional, Needs Extender

  • Excerpt: This is a quality product, but I would recommend the phantom power extender in order to use a sock mount and dead cat with it affectively.
  • Pros: Clear Sound
  • Cons: Limited Functions
