Summary: Standard instrument mic used in live performance or studio. No need for added stand I just drop it over the top of the instrument amplifier. Sennheiser quality dynamic mic handles high SPL level with flat response.
Summary: Easy to find the sound you want. You can't go wrong with e609, i bought a pair, and i love them. I tried on my Fenders, Mesas and Bugeras, all with different kind of sounds, clean and drive... Sounds very good in all situations. Everybody needs one.
Summary: Among the most affordable of all Sennheiser products. I don't know anyone that doesn't have one of these in the studio, but it's fantastic for the live stage too! Many tone-meiser guitarists will silently give you props when you approach their cab with one of these babies. The pickup pattern is very forgiving if you aren't a pro at Mic placement too.
Summary: I use a '57' for the cab signals attached to a short boom mic that collects the stage bounce noise from performers jumping up and down on the stage witch causes the '57's' to thump and crack with the noise off the stage floor. With these that whole problem is eliminated. Plus, they really do handle the high SPL that can come off of some amps. I like the low profile and the ease of placement to get the work done.
This used older version e609 can be found on Ebay for the right price.

Summary: Microphone is just the right unit for a band on a budget and wants to mic up a guitar amp with the correct mic for the job. Would highly reccomend this older version e609 if you want to save money and find one one Ebay used.
Summary: I love this mic for micing guitar cabs. It reproduces signals faithfully. I find that sm57s work great for country or blues guitars but tend to be kind of harsh for rock guitars. I have an AT2035 that I have used on my guitar but its more of a hassle to set up. My singer and I both use 609s on our cabs and they sound great. Really want to try this mic on drums. Could be awesome!
