Summary: I use this microphone with a Beachtek DXA-4, mounted to a Sony FX1. Most common use is for interviews with people outdoors and on boats. The sound is better than the built in microphone on the FX1. You will need a dead cat to help with wind noise.
Summary: I needed a shotgun mic quickly for a trip to Africa I was taking. B&H had a good price on the NTG-2, and sent it very fast to me. I used it in the field all over Botswana and South Africa, and it performed beautifully.
Summary: I am using the NTG-2 mainly outdoors for travel related video where the ambient background noises are a distraction. The NTG-2 does a very good job at eliminating those background noises. One thing I did notice, however, is the main subject when using this mic is sometimes hard to pickup unless you're in close. For travel video this isn't a problem usually. This mic has met all of my expectations thus far and I would recommend it as a good low cost mic.
Summary: This is an affordable shotgun mic that delivers great results for the price. I use it as an on camera mic, and mounted to a boom pole via XLR cable using my DVX, and I am very pleased with its results.
