Summary: Wonderful Mic for Vocals and other applications. this mic will perform excellent in the studio for you. I bought this mainly for vocal's since I think tube Mics give Vocals such a warm and full sound to your vocals. Hook this up to a very good pre-amp and you will nOT be dissipointed with the results at all but the trick to getting a good vocal track is having a very good pre-amp. Think of it this way, you're only as strong oas your weakest link.
Excerpt: This Mic sounds great and hands down in my opinion its the King of all Mic's when your on a budget. Sounds really good with the Universal Audio Solo 610 preamp. Best bang for the buck. Just get it !! You wont regret it.
"The k2 is one of the best mics out there, especially if you upgrade the factory tubes and I love that you can do that. It will b"

Excerpt: I love the k2, and this is my second one through zzsounds. A great mic, and affordable. I really have not used it yet because I want to upgrade the tubes because I heard that, it would boost the quality of the mic especially the mids because with the k2 I found them to be a little weak, but other than that it goes hard.
Excerpt: Stock, the K2 is very thin sounding. If you've never used a quality mic before, you probably won't realize this. But you will realize how unrealistic everything sounds, as well as various other issues common to Rode mics. With a little modification, however, it will become a mic to compete with vintage classics. It takes more than just a new tube though. The tube is only one third or one quarter of the sound on this mic. The build quality is excellent.
Summary: I bought this mic because I wanted a versatile mic that can handle high SPL, under $1000 and also gives some character to my sources. I use this mic for vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar cabinets, drum overheads, and most everything. I'd probably say it really shines on acoustic guitars the most though. I have two of these and I really liked that I picked both up for under $500 each.
Excerpt: I have owned K2 for almost 1 year and used it mainly for vocal. The high SPL handling is really impressive comparing to other mic I have ever had, nevertheless the variable polar pattern and full package including the large shock mount. For vocalists you will definately need a good pop filter.I am not that happy with the original [*]6N11 tube comes with the package. After replacing it with a rare Mullard E88CC-01, I get really amazing, musical, warmth, and vintage sound.
Summary: This mic is great. I was looking for a condenser upgrade and this one is just the right mic and price. It's no U87, but its getting there. Plus I swapped out the tube for an original 1967 Amperex JAN tube. That improved the sound. Great mic and a really great price here in eBay.
