A great mic after some modification

Volstag, B&H Photo

  • Excerpt: Stock, the K2 is very thin sounding. If you've never used a quality mic before, you probably won't realize this. But you will realize how unrealistic everything sounds, as well as various other issues common to Rode mics.

Great C/P Value

  • Excerpt: I have owned K2 for almost 1 year and used it mainly for vocal. The high SPL handling is really impressive comparing to other mic I have ever had, nevertheless the variable polar pattern and full package including the large shock mount.

Warm tube sound

Roget', B&H Photo
15 December 2009
  • Excerpt: I have only had the mic a short time and have used it exclusively for vocals. I can say that in that application I'm very happy with its warmth and polarity control. The dedicated power unit, shock-mount and carrying case are nice pieces of the package.

Incredible Bang For Your Buck

Davey Roberts, music123

  • Summary: I absolutely love this microphone. I actually bought two of them, I liked it so much. It's warm, but absolutely neutral (no hyped-HF like you see in the Pac-Rim mics of today- but if that's what you want, you will find the K2 "nasally" and "gritty" as a previous reviewer has...

Sounds gritty and fuzzy

Steve Cross, music123
21 February 2007
  • Summary: Rode has had the historical reputation for making bright microphones. The K2 and others containing their HF1 capsule are an attempt to redefine their sound. Rode has definitely tamed the HF response of this mic, but they've replaced it with what I can only describe as a gritty, fuzzy top end.

perfect!

  • Summary: These microphones are just amazing! I used them to record orchestra, piano and organ, set on a large omnidirectional pair (around 50 centimeters between them) and the result was incredible. You just need to take time to place them at the best place. Don't hesitate!

Excellent Microphone

ComposeAl, music123

  • Summary: Now my favorite microphone for vocals and flute. This microphone is quiet, invisible and colorless and yet still warm. It is still very detailed but with no harsh edges anywhere in the audio spectrum. The quality for any amount of money is unbelievable. I can't say enough good about this mic.

Excellent Quality...Excellent Sound

  • Summary: The sound quality is excellent. The build quality is superb. This mic sounds like a cross between an AKG C12 and a Neumann U67. EXCELLENT!! Try it for yourself to see. Rode has built a better mousetrap. It's well worth more than its price.
