Excerpt: I used to take my Zoom H4 everywhere I went, just in case something happened that I needed to record, but it's a little big to just stick in your pocket sometimes. The iXY on the other hand is perfect, especially since I usually have my phone with me already. Very convenient.
Excerpt: I've used this for location recording and with some sound effect recordings. It is particularly useful because of its size. It is small enough to fit in my bag without being heavy or bulky. You must be careful using the iXY outside as wind tends to effect the sound greatly. The included windscreen is helpful, but does not completely deal with the issue.Good overall sound quality, if you've got the cash to blow it is a very handy little recorder.
Pros: Good Sound Quality, Lightweight, Long Battery Life
Excerpt: I use this product to record indoors and outdoors, whilst sometimes being on the move or at a standstill as a separate recording device from my DSLR while someone is holding it for me as a i shoot with my DSLR. It does what it is supposed to do without much problem. Very easy to use and straightforward.
Pros: Durable, Easy Controls, Good Sound Quality, Lightweight
Excerpt: I own several microphones for use on my iphone and Ipad. This one is by far the most expensive of the bunch. My decision to purchase this particular microphone was largely based on my desire to have what I believed, based on price, would be the microphone that would give me the highest quality sound. Sad to say I am disappointed. When using the microphone I found it does not fit securely into either the iphone or the ipad. It kept falling out of the connection.
Excerpt: I have been using the iXY for mobile recording, mainly capturing sounds for use in a sound library/sound design setting. I have done some basic event recordings with it as well. It is not exactly what I would call a superb quality item for high fidelity recordings, but for the $, the size, and the ability to plug it into a phone or iPad (and YES, it does work with the lighting to 30-pin adapter on the newer i-products), it is completely worth it.
Pros: Easy Controls, Good Sound Quality, Lightweight, Powerful, Small
Excerpt: This is by far one of the greatest ideas for field recording to date, because not only could you do an interview but also grab really good b-roll audio as well especially if you don't want to carry alot of mics in the field oh and the Rode app is great as well and is what makes this mic worth the purchase as you can get some great audio at an extremely high sample rate
Pros: Great Sounding Audio, No Need For Multiple Mics, Simple
