Excerpt: The Olympus ME-52 noise-cancelling microphone has several unique features that make it attractive to our particular needs. I am the operations manager of the journalism dept. at a small Christian university, and we have recently upgraded to the BlackMagic Design Pocket Cinema cameras for recording interviews for our weekly student-run newscasts.
Pros: Compact Design, Detachable, High Quality Sound, No Battery Needed, Reliable, Swiveling Mic Clip
Excerpt: I use this mic to record my voice when singing. Attached to an Olympus recorder, I find an improved quality of sound. The mic is flexible and quality of build appears to be excellent. The only problem I have is the windscreen comes off easily. No downgrade for this problem, it is just an irritant.
YES, adapters available on Amazon for using this mic with an iPhone or iPod!

Summary: OK, I bought this mic going in knowing that it would not work directly with an iPhone or iPad, but at this price, figured I could always find a use for it, and that perhaps there would be an adapter that would enable use with an iPhone. Good news on all fronts. Several adapters can be purchased directly from Amazon, including this one, which I had purchased earlier to patch a dual-wired headset to the single mic/headphone port for my laptop: http://amzn.com/B004SP0WAQ Et...
Excerpt: This really is a very useful mic for use "out in the field" or even for voice recording at home. Sound quality is great for a mic its size. It does have a unidirectional pickup pattern, but doesn't do as good a job at cancelling out ambient noise as an acutal shotgun mic. But it does have a price you can't beat.
Pros: Cheap, Compact Design, High Quality Sound, Reliable
Excerpt: I interview people at industrial construction sites, that are so loud I can barely hear what people are saying. When I play back the interviews I can hear almost exactly what they are saying, clearly and wiht minimum noise. Of coures, I mike them carefully, putting the mike right below their mouth. Amazing for the price. You need a olympus recorder that is compatiable, to power the mike. sound is great for transcribing, thin for broadcast.
Excerpt: I'm not much of a mic expert, but I bought this little beauty for home voice recording and it's got to be one of the best deals out there. It's compact, has great noise-reduction capability (I live on 9th ave in Hells Kitchen and it doesn't even pick up a hint of outside traffic noise!) and is just overall a very nice-quality product.
Summary: I used this in my car as a hands free microphone for my iPhone 5s. I used a starTech MUYHSMFF splitter to plug the mic into the phone and pipe the audio to the aux port on my car stereo. It really works well and allows me to take calls and play music from my phone in the car.
Excerpt: Used 2 of these with a splitter to conduct interviews and was pleasaed with the sound quality for the cost. They're priced at a place where I can keep extras around for those times one gets left behind. Would have been 5 stars if the cord was 10' long ...
