Decent mic for the price

Anonymous, Newegg
17 February 2014
  • Pros: -Good price -Decent sound quality: Not great but audible and clear enough for other (online) players to hear you
  • Cons: -Wire doesn't seem like it would last, seems thinner than a standard 3.5mm wire on headphones -Wouldn't use it for recordings or for presentations

Not for semi-professional use

  • Excerpt: I am a wedding cinematographer who just started last year,so I was on a tight budget. I read a million lav mic reviews and I read mixed reviews for this mic. In the end though it was super cheap and there were some good reviews so I finally bought it. I was disappointed. The amount of background noise was unacceptable for professional or even semi-professional use.
  • Cons: Picks Up Background Noise, Poor Quality Sound

Great for Unlikely Use

  • Excerpt: I'm using this microphone as the sound gathering point in a home-built parabolic microphone (couldn't afford the professional model Telinga). Using the tie clip affixed to a short piece of wire, I've centered the little mike to the focal point of an 18 inch diameter mixing bowl, and I've found that the ME-15 has worked wonders at picking up bird calls, which I then record on to an Olympus LS-10 field recorder.
  • Pros: Compact Design, High Quality Sound, Light weight, Reliable
  • Cons: Hollow sound quality, Picks Up Background Noise

Useless

Audiologist, Adorama

  • Excerpt: Wanted to use this mic for use with a personal amplification system that I already had. Didn't want to use the mic that came with it due to bulkiness and boom mic. I thought the lapel mic was the answer. I could not get any amplification at all with it pinned on the lapel...I had to literally hold it up to my mouth to get any sound. Trying to increase the amplification just produced feedback. So the conclusion was feedback or having to hold it right up to my mouth...
  • Pros: Compact Design
  • Cons: Poor Quality Sound

Microphone for GoPro Hero2

lowpull, B&H Photo
20 February 2012
  • Excerpt: I bought this microphone for my new GoPro Hero2 camera. It was unclear to me how this would work for my use because GoPro recommended a powered microphone, which this is not. I'm using it in my aviation headset to capture the radio/intercom audio. It worked really well for this. I'm not sure how it would work at a concert or the like, where you are trying to capture a broad range of frequencies.
  • Pros: Compact Design, Low price, No batteries required, Omni-directional, Short cord
  • Cons: Not stereo

Much more convenient

  • Excerpt: I think this thing is awesome. It allows me to record with my hands free so I don't need to walk around and act like I'm hiding something in my hand. The only thing better would be a wireless mic.
  • Pros: Compact Design
