Excerpt: I am a wedding cinematographer who just started last year,so I was on a tight budget. I read a million lav mic reviews and I read mixed reviews for this mic. In the end though it was super cheap and there were some good reviews so I finally bought it. I was disappointed. The amount of background noise was unacceptable for professional or even semi-professional use.
Cons: Picks Up Background Noise, Poor Quality Sound
Excerpt: I'm using this microphone as the sound gathering point in a home-built parabolic microphone (couldn't afford the professional model Telinga). Using the tie clip affixed to a short piece of wire, I've centered the little mike to the focal point of an 18 inch diameter mixing bowl, and I've found that the ME-15 has worked wonders at picking up bird calls, which I then record on to an Olympus LS-10 field recorder.
Pros: Compact Design, High Quality Sound, Light weight, Reliable
Cons: Hollow sound quality, Picks Up Background Noise
Excerpt: I bought this microphone for my new GoPro Hero2 camera. It was unclear to me how this would work for my use because GoPro recommended a powered microphone, which this is not.
I'm using it in my aviation headset to capture the radio/intercom audio. It worked really well for this.
I'm not sure how it would work at a concert or the like, where you are trying to capture a broad range of frequencies.
Pros: Compact Design, Low price, No batteries required, Omni-directional, Short cord
Excerpt: I think this thing is awesome. It allows me to record with my hands free so I don't need to walk around and act like I'm hiding something in my hand. The only thing better would be a wireless mic.
Excerpt: I use it with the go pro camera for conversation purposes. I like the compact size, that's what I was looking for with the go pro, easy to work with. The sound quality is very good and clear. It is not very loud because it's mono, but it's easily fixable by turning the volume up, or in my editing software, just copy the sound and paste it into an other track, and pull one track to the left, pull the other track to the right turns it into stereo sound, and gets louder to...
Excerpt: I use it with my Williams Pocket talker and it works nicely with that. A
nice, obscure mic.
I agree that it would be better if the tie clip were black.
Where I go with a Williams sound transmitter and wireless listening devices,
I do not use this mic becasue it picks up all the noise of the open space,
but, otherwise, it is a great portable mic.
