WARNING OS 10.8.5 CONFLICT
Paul M, Apple Store
22 October 2013
Summary: Not sure if mavericks will fix this but amazing mic has a USB conflict with Apple iOs 10.8.5 Blue is aware and trying to fix--hope Apple will help them--because I love this thing and older OS works fine with it.
Summary: I have a syndicated western music radio show. I produce Calling All Cowboys (www.KPOV.org) weekly using a Sure mic and an analog mixer. I have been on the air for 8 years and I was also in an acoustic band for 8 years. I have used dozens of different mic set ups during that time. I am starting a new program and wanted a better, more versatile mic. One that did not require a mixer for field recordings yet could be used for live gigging and in-studio use.
Pros: Dual Interface
Cons: Does not work as expected, DOES NOT WORK AT ALL, Is Not Plug Play Usb, Many Bad Units Shipped, Not Plug Play Usb, Too Many Bad User Reviews
Summary: Looking to record some music demos or supplementary audio on a budget? A few hundred dollars sounds like a lot but this mic is totally worth purchase price on the consumer level. For podcasting, there is no where else to look. This is the mic to get, it allows for digital or analog connection and has multiple mic styles to allow for roundtable discussion, interview style bi-direction, basic cardoid, and even true, analog L-R stereo (Think the pan effect in Ozzy...
Summary: I got this for a birthday present a month ago and I can now say I LOVE the product. I still have yet to get the shock mount shown in the pics to get a better angle. So you ask why I love it...well it's the highest quality mic for it's price I've ever heard! You can record absolutely anything you want on it and it handles vocals quite well. It's exactly what I wanted for the dual XLR and USB connections.
Summary: Despite the advertising on the box and website, this microphone does not work at all on my windows machine. This is due to the fact that windows cannot interface with this microphone at the same time that it interfaces with sound playback, even though that is required in order to use the microphone.
Summary: I bought this MIC off the online Apple Store and first I was pleased to see it arriving so fast (3 business days) with free shipping! For $249, it is cheap compared to what you would need to buy. Once you install the driver, it works instantly! A little downside of the driver is that you have to go download it off the Blue Website (they should include it on a CD). Esthetically, it looks FANTASTIC on your desk.
Summary: The sound of this mic is awesome. Balanced, and just over all pleasing. There are a couple things to note though. It does not come with a case and I cannot find one for purchase from blue. So carting this thing around is not a good idea. The other issue is the level control. The digital in and out takes some tweaking. For instance on my mac I have to go into the audio midi controls every time I use it and adjust the volume for the output there.
Excerpt: I really regret buying this microphone and I have found it massively overpriced for what it does. If I could, I'd get my money back - but I can't. The main problem with the microphone is the volume of the recordings. I've recorded myself playing the guitar and singing some of my songs, and while the sound quality is good - background noise levels, hiss, ambient noises etc are pretty much non-existent - the actual volume of the recording that the microphone picks up is...
