Summary: I bought this for a Canon Rebel T2i because I wanted more directional and stereo sound, plus isolation from the camera (so I don't pick up camera sounds in the audio). I'm quite happy with the quality of this mic - it's working exactly as intended in those areas. One great unadvertised feature is that it can use camera power!
Pros: Clear Sound, Compact, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Uses camera power
Summary: I bought this for my T2i. I would say it seems to be worth the money if you can't afford, or don't want to have the bulk, of the Rode NTG-2 which seems to stick out too far for just knocking around with the camera. I mounted on a flash shoe arm, which gives as good of stabilization as a mono pod, maybe even better. I just shot this video using the Azden on the T2i.[@]Is it better than the on board terrible mic? You be the judge. I'd have to say it is.
Pros: Clear Sound, Compact, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Versatile
Summary: probably the best mic within its price range. why do i have to say a 100 characters? makes no sense. well, its pretty good. its kinda weird that when you plug it in, it turns on even though it doesnt have a battery on it which is probably a good thing, but then if its so cheap that the manufacturer skipped the detail of it turning on without a battery might be a quality issue.
Summary: I use the SMX-10 with my Canon Vixia HV30 for interviews. Without an external mic, there is just too much unwanted noise and not enough "focus" on my interview subject. The SMX-10 is a very affordable solution which meets all of my needs-light weight, clear sound, unobtrusive and easy to use. There is no battery level indicator, but that is a minor concern weighed against price.
Summary: I only buy Azden microphones because i've yet to be disappointed. This microphone is small in size but big in sound! It greatly enhances sound in front of you while greatly eliminating sound behind you. I've done interviews with the subject outside, 6 feet away and alot of background noise and after injesting it into my editing software, it sounded as though the subject was right next to the camera... clear and crisp!
Pros: Clear Sound, Compact, Easy To Use, Professional Functions, Versatile
Summary: I purchased this mic to go with our SC-HMX20C HD FLASH MEMORY CAMCORDER. The audio on the camcorder is great indoors, but with our son loving the outdoors and camping we wanted to ensure conversations could be heard and would not be lost in the background noises. This works perfectly!
Pros: Clear Sound, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Versatile
Summary: I use this mic instead of the on-board on my Vixia. It is way better than the on-board mic simply because it cuts down on the sound of the motor. I find it's not very sensitive though and I still have to get pretty close to a subject to get good sound. For the money this a good mic, but if you really want quality you're gonna have to splurge a little more price wise.
Pros: Easy To Use, Good Interface With Camcorder, Improves Performance, Lightweight
