Four years of satisfactory use.

  • Excerpt: I have had this microphone for about four years now used on both a Sony DCR-VX2100 and a Sony HDR-CX580, and I have been generally very pleased with the results. It has captured entirely realistic sound of musical live performances, done very well as a boom mic in outdoor envrionments for my film shoots, and done decent work with indoor vocal recordings.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Good Interface With Camcorder, Lightweight

Absolute Garbage

  • Excerpt: There is little to no sound collected by this microphone. I tested on both my DSLR 9Nikon D5300) and my Sony camcorder. I tested at auto levels and differing audio sensitivity levels on both. At mid to low levels, there is almost no sound (except for the hissing ... yes hissing even at a low level). At higher sensitivity levels or at auto, the sound is still unbelievably low and the hissing is tremendous. I should note that I tested it at two different distances.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Lightweight
  • Cons: No Performance Improvement, Poor Interface

Good accessories, But worthless mic

Frost, B&H Photo

  • Excerpt: Good accessories, But a worthless mic. This is just 2 simple mic condenser that need energy to work, so you have an 1.5V AA battery inside! It's NOT an AMPLIFIED microphone! Yes, the volume is really low! And the biggest problem is that it isn't an good Stereo Mic, it's more like having 2 mics, one for each channel, and one is pointing left and the other is pointing right. The box say's it's an dual cardioid, but I would say it's a bidirectional polar pattern.
  • Pros: Easy To Use
  • Cons: No Performance Improvement

Waste of money!

  • Excerpt: I bought this mic to use as an on-camera mic. It sounds worse than the built in mic on my Canon Vixia camera. The signal to noise ratio is horrible. To get anything decent, you have to talk within 1 foot away from this mic, and even then the frequency range doesn't sound that good. At 6 feet, the noise seems to overpower the voice. It's too bad, because this mic appears to be solid. I would suggest that you save a bit more, and buy an AT875 for a budget on-camera mic.
  • Pros: Lightweight, Quality Construction
  • Cons: Bad Sound Quality, Noisy, No Performance Improvement

  • Excerpt: This Mic just improved the internal mic on my DSLR's big time. Not only it sounds better but the general noise volume ratio is great to the point that you cna used it as a main audio capture. Grat price for this good equipment.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Improves Performance, Lightweight

Good for live music performances!

Nick Michalak, B&H Photo
4 February 2013
  • Excerpt: This microphone has been the most useful to me in recording live musical performances. The sound I get is greatly realistic, and while not a replacement for a professional soundboard recording, it has resulted in a great deal of praise from the bands I've worked with. For film productions, it's best used in outdoor settings as the microphone does pick-up a good deal of ambient sound indoors, but it is still a pleasant step up from the built-in camcorder mic.

  • Excerpt: this mic can't control the AG that my 7d produce's. so really it's not the mic to buy unless you buy a H4N extrnal sound recorder. Even then it's a cheap mic.

ATR6250 Stereo Condenser Video/Recording

Larry Levy, B&H Photo
18 December 2012
  • Excerpt: I purchased this product to use for DSLR video recording. For this price it worked very well. I used it to make a promotional video for a private elementary school. THe sound was clear and it picked up children from some distance away. THe quaility was a little 'boomy' but not terribly so. For this price I would recommend it to a friend.
