Great product!!!

  • Excerpt: The mic is easy to set up and sounds great. I use it for the podcast my friends and I do. We use it with GarageBand on a Mac. I couldn't be happier with the quality. Audio-Technica always has great products I've used other mics (not going to say the name) and they don't compare great mic for good price.

  • Summary: The problem with this device at the moment is that AT does not provide a USB driver for it, it uses the default windows USB audio driver. The issue this causes is that on the default USB driver you can only set input volume, not the gain(boost, in Microsoft vernacular), with the input volume at 100% and the mic only a few inches away from my face, speaking loudly enough that anyone in my apartment would be able to hear me clearly, the recording I get back is a whisper.
  • Pros: At the moment, none.
  • Cons: Running over USB, recording is nearly inaudible.

*THE* First Microphone You Should Buy

  • Excerpt: For anybody thinking about general recording, this is the first microphone you should buy. There is no better microphone that balances quality, flexibility of use, and cost. I have no fear throwing this microphone in my travel bag. It's a dynamic microphone - they are very robust. It may get a scratch or the grille may get dented. Nevertheless, the sound quality will remain solid. And it's relatively inexpensive so I'm not too worried about normal wear and tear damage.
  • Pros: Clear Sound, Compact, Durable, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Versatile

Great starter mic

  • Excerpt: I use this product for Let's Plays and podcasting, and it's so far been great. I have it hooked up on a mic stand with a pop filter, and the sound quality is great. I wish it had a longer USB cable, and the built in headphone input is a bit annoying.
  • Pros: Clear Sound, Compact, Easy To Use
  • Cons: Bulky/Heavy, Short cable

If it's your first foray into "quality" recording--get it.

  • Summary: For the price--I'm totally impressed. I use it to podcast. I don't hook it up to anything except the back of my computer. I record directly into AVS Audio Editor (very inexpensive) and after I adjust the recording level, I sound great! Not Barry White...but, baby, damn close. However, get a pop screen. I have been using it without, but it's gonna be much better after I use a pop screen.

Great microphone

  • Pros: Great little microphone. Has good sound quality and doesn't feel like it'll break if I drop it/it falls off my desk on accident.
  • Cons: The stand that comes with it is a little iffy. I can't have the microphone too far out otherwise it'll fall over because of the weight, but I don't consider it too much of an issue.
