I love this mic

Zwol, B&H Photo
15 June 2014
  • Excerpt: I have many mics, including the industry standard Sennheiser 416. I keep this mounted to my camera at all times. The bass response for acoustic guitar and voice is impressive. The first time I heard it I was surprised at how warm and natural it sounds. My only wish is that it were a little shorter.
  • Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Great Sound Quality, Lightweight, Long Lasting

Awesome Shotgun Mic!!!

  • Excerpt: I'm a videographer for a PR firm in Atlanta, and we produce a lot of corporate videos and interviews. This mic has been a goliath step forward from the wired lavs and wireless lavs we used to employ during our video sessions. The wired mics produced a very mute and flat tone, and the wireless lavs (which were top of the line Sennheiser sets) produced God-awful hiss and feedback from time to time.
  • Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Great Sound Quality, Lightweight, Long Lasting

Good performance at a good price

  • Excerpt: I'm using this microphone on a boom pole to capture interview audio for video in a variety of indoor and outdoor situations. I'm quite pleased with the performance and build quality of this microphone. The directionality, the on-axis frequency response and sensitivity, and the off-axis rejection are all quite good. I'm still evaluating the S/N performance, but so far it's good enough fo my needs.

Solid Microphone

  • Excerpt: This mic is a solid mic, especially for the price. The pick-up is good and the quality is great for the price. It is well built and durable. I have compared the quality of this mic with a $ shotgun before. It was a little bassier than the other mic and the pick-up was not as strong. Once we boosted the level to match the other mic it held up pretty well. The more expensive mic was a little more natural sounding, but I was very impressed with this mic.

Not the best

Chris Evans, B&H Photo
25 November 2013
  • Excerpt: I used this to shoot a small green screen shoot and the room we were in had a slight echo (I could not hear it without listening to a mic) and this mic made it sound like we were in an empty tile-floored cafeteria. We didn't have the best mic position, but it was only 2 or 3 feet from the talent and I was unimpressed. I suppose I shouldn't expect the quality of a high quality, expensive mic, but with the reviews this had, I expected better.
  • Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Lightweight
  • Cons: Noisy

Great Bang For Your Buck

  • Excerpt: This mic provides a great value for low-budgeters. It won't give you the quality of sound you'd get from a $2,000 microphone, but this mic is still very well made. Great quality of hardware and great sound for its price. Runs on a single AA battery, fits perfectly in my homemade boom pole. And it looks pretty in its pretty carrying case.

Great for my Canon 5D Mk II

Ed Pearsen, B&H Photo
20 June 2013
  • Excerpt: This microphone was the perfect price point for my needs, which I feel place it between consumer-quality gear and professional gear. I was looking for 75 db or better SNR and this fits the bill at 77 db. I feed this into a JuicedLink DS214 via a Pearstone LMT100 XLR to 3.5mm impedance matching converter, then into my 5D Mk II. Mounted on the camera, it is short enough to stay out of frame even with a 24 mm lens. The sound is excellent.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Great Sound Quality, Lightweight
  • Cons: No On Off Switch
