Summary: This mic has been a welcome addition to my locker. It delivers transparent and quiet recordings and the most useful patterns at a very reasonable price. My only complaint would be that the shock mount design makes it difficult to mount the mic, which has to be pulled though a tight rubber band, catching on the switches.
Summary: I have used a bunch of microphones . Some people want extreme clarity . Some people want something that completely hides their voice with air and some effects. I personally like clear it's with a tidbit of air for that nice sweet smoothness. And this mic does exactly that . There is something special that this mic does to your sound . I think it's because of a decreased volume on the 1k . It just removed the harsh and painful sound that a loud voice would give.
Natural sound, very high quality, reasonable price.

Summary: It has a transformerless design and a flat frequency response, which delivers a nice natural sound. Multipattern, very high quality. It´s hard to beat it in this price range and this microphone type. It blows away Rode NT2-A (unless you want a VERY bright sound). The price is very reasonable. A new classic.
Summary: Very crisp. Purchased this after I noticed the studio I go to has it in all the rooms. The engineers love it and the price was just right. I am a VO actor and recommend the AT4050 to anyone in the business. A high end mic at a very reasonable price.
Summary: For what its worth, a pair of these 4050s will go a long way in your studio, especially on a budget. They sound beautiful as a stereo recording of grand piano, guitar, or even drum OH's. The variable polar patterns enable a plethora of stereo recording options. I have actually used this mic for VO work and found it to be superior for certain voices, even over Neumann and more expensive mics!
Summary: I bought the AT4050 based a lot of research that indicated the AT4050 is a very natural sounding and versatile condenser mic. I alos borrowed one from a friend so I could test it myself. My primary uses are recording very high quality acoustic guitar and vocals. Maybe Drum Overheads at some point. The Mic sounds just wonderful on Acoustic guitar and is equally natural sounding on vocal recordings. This mic comes with three switch settings; Omni, Cardioid and Figure 8.
Summary: It´s not a neumann but is a VERY good mic!! I´ve done some recordings for the university and it works great recording almost everything, from vibe to flute to saxophone to timpany... I´ve used to record a flute in my new CD, if anyone wanna hear the sound, go to myspace - rafaeldelima, the music to listen is GAIA. we use a neumann u87 on sax, AKG c414 on guitar and acustic bass, neumann km184 on cello and 10 string guitar, just to number a few.
