Great mic for the price.

  • Summary: Bought this mic after reading so many good reviews on it and hearing a couple sound clips on youtube. Got it in the mail, unboxed it and tried it right away. Totally worth the buy! Definitley an upgrade for me, i was using a cheap $100 condenser mic before this. BIG difference!

Best multi pattern in its price range.

  • Excerpt: I use this mic in omnidirectional mode for group recordings with a small folk band. It's great as a reference recorder during rehearsals and helps us learn to play dynamically. It's also super for vocals (in cardiod mode). Very crisp. I personally like the frequency response but it's still yet to be tested with multiple vocalists. I wish it had a hard case - it only comes with a padded zipper bag that's not quite large enough to fit both the mic and shockmount in.
  • Pros: Clear Sound, Easy To Use, Versatile

Awesome sound capture - flawless

  • Excerpt: AT2050 is a great multi-pattern microphone at better than half the price of other brands, Audio-Techinca has a winner with this condenser mic. We needed a microphone to add ambience to our recording and live streaming and this unit does the job excellently. We had previously used a condenser mic that was almost ten times the cost of this one and we can not tell the difference in the quality of the recording.

great affordable mic

  • Summary: I bought this AT2050, because i have enjoyed the simple younger brother AT2020 so much... the sound quality is pretty much the same on both, except with this AT2050, it has multiple patterns to chose from. I love the natural sound of audiotechnica mic's... not a lot of artificial tones added (or subtracted). I use these mostly for vocals, but also for close-mic acoustic guitars.

"Another Great Mic From AT"

By a customer from msn.com, zzounds.com

  • Excerpt: This is an excellent mic for the money and is typical of my experience with AT mics. It has a fairly flat, nice full, clean response and does not have the brittle high end of many mics in this price range. Very good sound.

AT2050

Victor, B&H Photo
23 July 2010
  • Excerpt: I bought this microphone to make a stereo pair with my AT-2035. Since you can put this microphone in cardioid pick up pattern I figured it would be identical to the AT-2035. It turns out that its cardioid output is 10db lower than the 2035. When I turn the pad on the 2035 their outputs are equal but this causes slightly more noise in my recording. Their outputs are equal when the 2050 is in omnidirectional pattern however this wouldn't make a very good stereo pair.
