  • Excerpt: must buy for all audiophiles wanting clean sound and excellent 2 channel performance. worth noting is the cd direct amp. offered on the r-s700 but not on the equivalent integrated amplifier.it only offers pure direct. the cd amp. gives a significant improvement to your cd players signal!!!!spend the extra money to buy the receiver even if you do not use the tuner. you will not regret purchase and you have the tuner if you need it. tuner is excellent!!!
  • Pros: Accurate Controls, Easy To Set Up, Energy Efficient, Good Power Output, Good Remote Control, Great Sound Quality
  • Cons: None

  • Summary: If you're looking for a true hi-fi receiver, this is it. Ample power to 100w per channel. Features include: tape, cd, and 3 aux. inputs, phono input with a built-in pre-amplifier, Pre-out/Main-in (so that a signal processor/equalizer can be used), and a variable loudness control. Sirius ready. A great machine that is well worth the money.

Competition Crusher

Red, Amazon
15 March 2014
  • Summary: Great powerful receiver with virtually no distortion. I bought this for music listening (Vinyl and CD's) and to power my Monitor Audio floorstanding tower speakers. I was happy with the Yamaha, but thought at its price point maybe I was missing something; so I decided to demo both the Marantz PM 8004 and The NAD 356 BEE. The Marantz had a very warm sound which many like and was quite attractive. The build quality was impressive but the sound to me wasn't.

A Great "old school" Analog Receiver

17 February 2014
  • Excerpt: Before purchasing the Yamaha, I had narrowed my search down to Yamaha, Harmon-Kardon, and Marantz. For my own personal preferences, I made the right choice. I just wanted a solid stereo receiver that would enable me to listen to music played through the entire spectrum of my older audio components, and without all of the extra inputs for video, etc..
  • Pros: Accurate Controls, Easy To Set Up, Good Power Output, Good Remote Control, Great Sound Quality

  • Summary: Before purchasing the Yamaha, I had narrowed my search down to Yamaha, Harmon-Kardon, and Marantz. For my own personal preferences, I made the right choice. I just wanted a solid stereo receiver so I could listen to music played through my other audio components, without all of the extra connections for video, etc.. This Yamaha receiver had the best variety of analog connections that would allow me to attach all of my older stereo components.

A Pure Stereo class act!

Ranger69, Adorama
27 January 2014
  • Excerpt: Just wanted a new unit to replace my Denon DRA-685 which had nothing wrong with it. This unit does away with all the multi channel junk I never needed or used. I just marveled over the re-invention of the stereo receiver that Yamaha has done here. Pure clean looks and power is what I wanted and now have. Six different inputs handle everything I needed to hook up to it.
  • Pros: Accurate Controls, Easy To Set Up, Energy Efficient, Good Power Output, Good Remote Control, Great Sound Quality, Well Designed Circuitry
  • Cons: No switched outlet

  • Excerpt: I use it to play CDs which are sharp and clear and loud when I want it. I have hundreds of old LPs which sound great. I also have an Airport Express plugged in to it which I use to stream music and Internet radio from my Macintosh computers. • Pros: Accurate Controls, Easy To Set Up, Easy-to-use Controls, Good Power Output, Good Radio Reception, Great Sound Quality, Wonderful Clean Sound
