Summary: This product is great. The sub out is a very nice feature. All in All the best stereo/amp I have owned. The highs and minds are clear and detailed without being to hi or shrill. The bass is not nearly as strong as some of the other stereos I have had in the past but it doesn't need to be if you have a sub connected up. But what the bass lacks in punch it more than makes up for with clarity and detail that I was missing in past setups. Great product.
upgrading from listening to music using my home theater set up
23 January 2014
Summary: I'm not an audiophile by any means, but I have these hooked up to a pair of Yamaha bookshelf speakers (NS-BP400PN) and I've never had so much fun listening to music. Tight, punchy bass, very clear highs, and a large sound stage. With my set-up, it's plenty loud-- I've never gone past about 30% volume for fear of bothering my neighbors. I read negative reviews comparing it to vintage amps; I'd defer to more experienced listeners in that case.
Summary: Price considered this is a fantastic amp. I bought it to power my golden ear aon2's and it does a good job. If you are trying to build a budget stereo system built around sound quality then definitely give this product a look.
Summary: Great amp, sounds way better than I thought it would. I have had the rs300 for about a month and never fell in love. I just hooked up the as500 and the massive upgrade is instantly apparent. I'm listening to Steven Wilson's latest effort. All I can say is this amp is a real treat for my ears. I'm a drummer so I have to take care of my ears and I'm picky about sound. With that said, I have far less ear fatigue with the as500 compared to the rs300.
Summary: Amp sounds awesome. How could anyone rate this amp anything other than 5 stars. Pure audio is damn good. I will hook up equalizer but I doubt I will ever use it (By Pass button on equalizer. UPDATE As of 9/17/13: After a couple of days of playing with the amp to see how well it does with Sony 5-disc changer, AM/FM radio, Cable (just upgraded cable to DirecTV), and Samsung Blu-Ray DVD. I would give all a 5 star except DVD. But DVD would be a very respectable 4 stars.
Summary: This is one quality integrated amplifier. I only needed two channels to power a CD player and this amp was the best choice. The sound is very clean and undistorted. Hooked up to a pair of good bookshelf speakers, it's perfect for a medium size room. I like the optional I-pod connection and the tone control bypass switch. The controls are made of plastic which some might object, but 99% of the time, I use the remote.
Summary: I bought the Yamaha A-S500 amp many months ago and had to get an AVR for it because it was 120 volts. I live in the Philippines which has 240 volts. I have been very impressed with ir. I love the loudness control, the overall power and a subwoofer output. I have absolutely no complaints. But I do have complaints toward Amazon. I want to know why it is that I cannot buy a Yamaha A-S500 Amp right now.
Summary: i'm not an expert but i've had my share of amps and recievers and this one is an all around winner. easy to use, good power w/a quick sonic punch and a easy on the pocket price. i have it paire w/a onkyo cd (also a splendid beast) and a low price kef sat/sub set and you'd have to hear iot to taste the sweetness of sound.
Summary: I bought this amplifier 3 weeks ago and I have been very satisfied. I believe it is the best amplifier in it's price range. Beautiful clarity and depth. The sound imaging is excellent. I was previously using a late 70's Pioneer sx780 that was my father's stereo but I couldn't keep it from breaking down every two months. So, instead of fixing it again I looked for a new amp with a phono stage.
Pros: Great clarity, imaging and sound in general. Has a phono stage.
Cons: The volume nob is plastic which isn't really important, but still sort of feels like a corner was cut but the manufacturer. Not a con, but I haven't really used the pure direct at all. Maybe will in the future.
