Excellent receiver, with dual-zone capability, phono input and unbeatable price

Dancing Feet, Amazon
22 October 2013
  • Summary: Was hard even to find a receiver with phono input (yes, I still have a turntable with phono output--newer turntables tend to use line-level outputs). I also wanted a dual-zone receiver for two sets of speakers independently settable to different inputs. Anything else I saw was much more expensive and had all sorts of other bells and whistles I didn't need. Has power to spare and half a dozen stereo inputs, including tape in/out, which is more than enough.

Great Sound for dance floor!

Jeffrey M. Lancaster "MrGadget", Amazon
12 October 2013
  • Summary: Great sound for the price! This dual zone stereo is great for the dance floor. Zone one on one side of the room and Zone two on the other side of the room. Remote control allows you to stand in the middle of the dance floor and adjust the balance between the zones for the perfect balance.

Sherwood RX5502 1 year later

Dana E. Williams, Amazon
20 September 2013
  • Summary: This was a good little receiver. After 1 year + 2 months it stopped working. It is stuck in standby mode and won't come back on and it is no longer under warranty. This is not an uncommon occurrence according to what I have been able to find on the internet. I should also note that it is very important to put a fan on this thing as it runs very hot and is not will suited for confined spaces like closed cabinets etc.

User Review

mandona, Walmart

  • Summary: We looked for a receiver with 4 pair speaker imputs for years. All the experts said no such thing existed and we ran into this one and it meets all our needs and the sound is excellent. The price is excellent and now my patio and sunroom (adjoining) are filled with beautiful music..

Love this stereo receiver!!

Jeep Guy, Amazon
18 August 2013
  • Summary: I have speakers in 3 rooms and I needed a stereo receiver to replace my 20 year old receiver that would allow me to control all of those speakers. This receiver is the perfect answer. You can very easily control which speakers are on by the remote control. It is plenty loud enough too. I was able to connect a cable to back to be able to plug in my iPhone's headphone jack and play music through the receiver.

Dual Zone, Multitude of sources

One_Careful_Owner, Amazon
3 February 2013
  • Summary: I simply love this. I bought this for our office and have it hooked up to 4 ceiling speakers in different rooms. I love the fact that I can set up 2 separate zones. This thing works like a breeze for me. If hooking up speakers, please make sure you do the impedance matching calculations otherwise you'll blame the wrong product for the sound. I've seen this too many times, NO! You can't simply chain speakers, its a fundamental electronic principle.

If it's too loud.......it's gonna crap out

SB, Amazon
21 December 2012
  • Summary: So I bought this because it seemed to have decent reviews, and I didn't want to spend a whole lot of money on a new amplifier for my stereo. Now I don't need extreme clarity of sound when I listen to music, but whenever I turn the volume over 40 this piece of junk shuts down and I have to reset the standby button, turn the volume down and wait about a minute for it to turn back on.
