Summary: I bought this and paired it with a Pyle PR2500/SEA2500 Channel Amp to run my three pair of in wall speakers and set of outdoor speakers on my porch. I had previously had these jury rigged to an old 5.1 A/V Receiver. This all works really well and is a lot easier switching between inputs. Looks really good, sounds great and runs cool. The only thing I wish it incorporated is fiber optic audio inputs and outputs. Less chord clutter and maybe a little better sound.
Summary: Great pre-amp with very useful features, but as others have mentioned, it has a very low output. In fact, it does not amplify the input source (which is normal for a pre-amp), but it seems it actually reduces the source volume (which is NOT normal). Even with all the equalization maxed and the loadness control maxed as well, the amplifier connected to the pre-amp output receives a lower signal than if the source was connected directly to it.

Conclusion: The pyramid 2500 is a nice preamp for the money it is well made good solid feel...no noise good solid knobs with the segmented feel. This preamp solved my home theaters amp problem of not having a phono input ..but now it does and I can tweak the sound and run a equalizer too....perfect!!!
Summary: It makes a considerable difference, the better quality components you use with it...the more difference it makes. The biggest difference you will notice is when using the loudness knob (which unfortunately receivers are no longer equipped with). In most receivers you have to hook it up through the tape loop, but do not turn the pre amps volume up higher than it would be without the pre amp. The output signal becomes too high for the receiver!
Summary: I got this to provide tone controls for TV audio output into a HiFi (movies have way too much bass for a HiFi set up for good music listening). It works great, and gives an excellent clear crisp sound. I'm driving it via RSA from an Audio Engine D1. However, after about 1 week of solid use, the AUX input stopped working. So I switched to the CD input. The same thing happened again to that after another couple of months of use.
Summary: This pre-amp is a great pair for your turntable. Plenty of other options for devices like VCR tape recorder/player. I was running out of room on my amp and this filled the bill. The loudness allows variable loudness instead of a push button.
