Excerpt: For a lower priced receiver this receiver performs as advertised. While lacking an equalizer, the treble/bass controls provide a bit of boost toward the top and bottom of the audible frequencies. The sound is crisp and not muddy. The A-B speaker configuration allow two speakers to be placed in the front and two speakers in the rear resulting is a more "surround sound" feeling.
Summary: I am annoyed by reviews that pan every digital device for not being an iphone. This is a stereo receiver and a good one. It's a big plus that you can listen to Internet radio. The setup for internet radio is cumbersome, but you only have to do it once. Summary: I bought this onkyo tx 8050 'stereo' (as opposed to home theater A/V receiver) to replace a 33 year old yamaha stereo receiver (you can guess my age and economic conservatism). I love this receiver (with the exceptions listed below). In no time I had it connected to my old vinyl phono player, to my Pandora internet radio account, to my wife's ipod nano, and to our CD and tape players.
Pros: great sound, great versatility, relatively easy to use remote. Crutchfield's excellent help and service.

And even my
phonograph is playing my vinyl records without the hummmm, for
the most part, still have to find how to ground the phono.
Only disadvantage at this point is the almost unreadable front panel: but
things come up very readably on the front window. All in all, a good buy!
Summary: Excellent value for the money, enjoy the network capability, listening sound quality is perfect, and the usb port on the front is a nice touch. Sonic performance is top notch as with all Onkyo products highly recommended Stereo AM/FM receiver solid construction, remote is thin and easy to work with. buy it, you wont regret your purchase!

This machine provides connectivity to all my audio through the USB, Ethernet, optical audio and analog connections. It connected to the home network easily via a wireless bridge (Linksys) and an Ethernet cable...
