Excerpt: I needed a replacement for my Carver 900 stereo amplifier/receiver that I bought in 1987. It was important that I be able to easily connect my legacy phonograph, tape player CD player and my cable box without needing adapters.
Pros: Clear Sound, Easy To Connect, Easy To Set Up, Excellent sound, Intuitive Controls
Excerpt: This unit is excellent and has more features than I realized when I bought it. Setup was simple and it is mostly intuitive to use. The menu system requires some getting use to and a call to tech support was useful to decode the menu system. Tech support is fast and accurate.
Excerpt: Replaced my old NAD receiver with this one. For a basic two channel setup for listening to classical music it works very well. There are plenty of hookups, including one for a phono/turntable, which is rare nowadays. Everything sounds clean and clear on my KEF speakers, plenty of power.
Pros: Clear Sound, Easy To Set Up, Good Remote, Intuitive Controls
Excerpt: I use this receiver with my ipad to stream music over some big old speakers I bought at a rummage sale. Once I got it going, the sound was unbelievable! I have been listening to the radio as well as I work in my studio.I thought it was glitching out but figured it was my wi-fi not reaching too far.
Summary: This receiver has shown me the folly of trying to use a multi channel receiver to play just music. For pure 2 channel sound this will blow just about anything else out of the water. This receiver is being used for a phono, CD changer, cassette and mini disc player.
Excerpt: The TX-8050 shows itself as a quality product right out of the box. It has a great look. And more imortantly than just being pretty, is that, it provides great sound! It is intutive and feels solid. It can take 2 optical cables; this is the prefered way to connect a CD player.
Pros: Clear Sound, Easy To Set Up, Good Remote, Has 2 Zones, Intuitive Controls, Onkyo Has Usa Tech Help, Takes 2 Optical Cables, Tech Help Is 24 Hours, Tech Help Is Friendly
Pros: Very easy set-up, great sound with my JBL outdoor speakers. I am probably under-tasking this device as I am only using it to play itunes/ipod and internet radio on two speakers, and it can certainly do much more. I am very pleased with how quickly I was able to pull up my Pandora stations, and us...
Cons: The interface via the remote can be a bit tedious and cumbersome. It would be great if there were a way to program the receiver with favorites and such once it was on your network with some software.
Excerpt: This receiver was recommended by my "geek" friend who knew what I needed for my new HD TV and other components. I also wanted the A/B speaker option so I can hear music and TV when on my screened porch and this fit the bill. I am very happy with it!
Pros: Clear Sound, Easy To Set Up, Interfaces Well With TV, Intuitive Controls
