Summary: I have been now using this amp for a little over a week, and I am absolutely in love. The amp simply sounds fantastic, driving my Infinity RS-IIIa's effortlessly even though these 4 Ohm speakers are known to be a difficult load. It weighs 40 lbs, and gets quite warm even at moderate volume levels. One needs to have 10-15 inches of clear space above the amp. Just google/icheckout images of the interior components. This is clearly a serious 2-channel Hi-fi amp.
Summary: Received my A-9070 last night, impatiently openned the massive box, the beautiful black steel revealed itself! Then using optical wires, RCA's and speaker wires connected my PSB's and played the first song. The result absolute bliss. Worth every penny. Most of all the delivery, packaging and the process through Amazon was fantastic.
Summary: I bought this integrated amp after doing hours and hours of research and sound testing of other integrated amps. What I found is you essentially you have to just leave it up to ones own ears to make the decision. Forget about manufacturer names and price tags. This product is excellent and the build quality is second to none at this price point. It is also extremely versatile.
Summary: I extensively researched the Onkyo A-9070 and three other comparable integrated amplifiers before making a decision. I am very pleased to have chosen the Onkyo A-9070. It is built very well with audiophile-quality parts, and it is highly versatile (it can be configured to perform in any one of four distinct modes) with many features. The separate Wolfson 192 kHz/24-Bit DACs feature really makes a difference in the sound.
Pros: Four large 15,000 µF capacitors. Discrete phono equalizer (MM/MC). Independent headphone amplifier. Main-in terminal.
Summary: The sounds from this unit are nothing short of amazing! I have logged in 90 hours of listening in the two weeks since it arrived. Ran the Stereophole test discs and was especially impressed with the sound stage demo and guitar track details. I have used these before with other amps and there was just so more presence, imaging and detail. With streaming media digital inputs there was no need for new speakers with this amp.
Pros: Separate DAC for R and L channels No hum or noise during silent track segments Massive transformers this amp weighs almost 50 pounds Life like vocal and instrumental sounds Many connection and functionality options provided
Cons: The unit runs a little hot (94F) but very stable if ventilation is proper (12 " clearance on top is a lot in a rack)
Summary: Onkyo maintains its line of neutral sounding amps. If you are a receiver owner and want to get into the 2 channel audiophile world on a budget, well this integrated amp is for you. The sound is very clear, detailed, crisp, and with a high dynamic range. First of all, don't let the power rating fool you. I was worried about the low power rating as my speakers are 8 ohms. You will be able to drive your speakers to high levels with this amp.
Summary: This amplifier has a very muffled sound, I've heard Yahama, Arcam, Cambridge, Onkyo is really only good for receiver, being an amplification is not a safe buy, I'll return my unit, not like the sound, it is clean and clear, is a sound inside, closed, do not recommend this brand. for safer shopping in your price range.
Lively, quick, precise, quiet; great dynamic range

Summary: I took a chance on this impressive-looking amp. By "impressive looking" I mean that the specifications were impeccable and the features (phono preamp, tone controls, digital inputs) were everything I needed. After one week, I am exceedingly impressed. My system consists of the A-9070, (2) JBL L880s, a Harman Kardon HD-990 CD player, an AR turntable, and an Audio-Technica AT-120E/T cartridge. The A-9070 is much more powerful than I guess I needed.
