Summary: I have always been an Onkyo fan and have bought several Onkyo components over the years. This purchase was a big mistake. Sound is fine, build quality is fine, but there is a significant chronic buzz coming from the device that is noticeable during quiet passages and particularly noticeable when the CD ends and the device is in idle mode. I was not happy. For newbies, the term is magnetostriction and the buzz is most often emanating from the transformer.
Summary: This little--but heavy and nicely built--amplifier has the potential to be a very good or perhaps excellent performer. I listened to it for a few hours, but just could not stand the hum/buzz coming from the amp. The amp seems to have noisy transformers, as some reviewers have suggested. During quiet passages, the transformer noise is audible. It is sometimes audible when the amp is playing at a moderate level.
