Summary: When I first purchased this amp to pair with my Sennheiser HD650 I ordered the silver one but was back ordered so I requested for the black one they had available. When I finally received it, I hooked it up immediately with a pangea pure silver usb cable and a pangea ac9 power cable because the stock cable it came with made it sound thin so I left it aside.
Summary: After my poor Xonar Essence STX (Btw, this is a high-end desktop sound card by Asus) died and feeling the need to find a replacement, i went on to purchase the Nuforce HD. I did my research. The reviews on-line were great. Suppose i can't go wrong...? The Nuforce HD is small (6" x 3.5" x 1") but feels solid. It requires an external power adapter. The one that comes with the unit is rated at 24 watt. The unit is well made with aluminum in silver and black.
Summary: I honestly don't understand how the NuForce Icon HD has multiple 5-star reviews. Although it's since been upgraded by the NuForce Icon HDP, I'd like to take a moment to share my experience with the HDP's little brother in the interests of anyone in the market for an entry level DAC/headphone amp.
Summary: I am using these along with my HD650 Sennheiser headphones. It should be noted that the HD650s are known for requiring a lot of power to be driven to their full potential. And since the NuFore Icon is doing a fantastic job with this, I can safely recommend this amp/dac to anyone for any use. Also, the difference between using the NuForce Icon versus the FiiO 9+7 (another amp/dac system) is extremely clear.
Summary: A few instant facts: 1. It use USB as the only input and it comes with an USB cable. 2. It has only got the 6.3mm headphone jack, but it comes with a 3.5mm adapter. 3. The only output apart from headphone jack is the RCA output -- and it's volume CAN be controlled by the nob! 4. The power cord comes with a universal converter so that it can be used WORLDWIDE. 5. It comes with a well made stand so that you can put the unit straignt up. I love its simplisity.
Summary: this Nuforce Icon HD is really a no brainer for dac/amp combo at the price range. plenty of power, not distorted, and noticeable improvement on both my AKG q701, ultrasone hfi780, and iem like turbine copper.
Summary: this item can help to improve the performance of your headphone. I used it with a AKG Q701.I meet some problem with the adapter, and sller sent me a new one.Generally speaking, this item worked well.
