worth every penny

Deon A., Crutchfield
13 March 2013
  • Summary: The sound quality is superb. For the price, it has few (if any) competitors. It was more than I expected. An NAD cd player is next on the agenda.
  • Pros: It doesn't have all the useless bells and whistles. NAD simply focused on sound quality.
  • Cons: It's not cheap.

Fantastic Amplifier Regardless of Price

Artto, Crutchfield

  • Summary: I really wasn't prepared for what I heard. I'm pretty much on outside fringe when it comes to audio reproduction. I have a dedicated purpose built acoustically tuned listening room (I'm an architect by education), I have over 40 commercial recordings to my credit and I've played music professionally on & off for the past 40 years.
  • Pros: Everything.
  • Cons: It doesn't have high-end audio pricing and therefore is subject to negative bias, no snob appeal, doesn't make a status symbol "statement", no flashing lights, glowing tubes or pretty blue meters. It just sits on the rack shelf barely noticed.

NAD 390 D

Underwhelmed, Crutchfield
31 January 2013
  • Summary: For the price I was preparing to be blown away by details. I really am not. I am biwiring Monitor Audio GX 100 stand mounted. While the sound is better than my Yamaha receiver, I know that it is not better for the price (HTIB receiver.) I A/B it to the Marantz SR5007. The bottom end has more detail, but the top end is the same. There are tons more connectivity options in the Marantz and the Marantz has a DAC also.
  • Pros: sound quality is good...I guess.
  • Cons: sound quality is not amazing for sure.

Veda a Audio Enthusiast, Audio Review

  • Summary: The clearest amp I've ever heard or owned which is only possible by the direct digital design (power DAC). Bass is a bit lacking compared to an ICE but that's understandable given ICE's super high damping factor. Overall the most balanced amp I've ever come across. No other amp would sound this clear but without ear fatigue. Ahead of the pack if accuracy is your game. The price is fair thus a 3 star. Features are plenty and superb.

Very Disappointing!

kathyd, Crutchfield

  • Summary: I bought this receiver last November, and it is dead already. I treated it like a baby and it is dead! Can't believe that I spent this much money on a product that will not even last a year! Now I am doomed to getting Crutchfield to follow though on its warantee. Whould not have happened if this was a quality product.
  • Pros: Won't even last a year!
