Got it at a thrift store for $7.00 and is a waste of $7.00
2 April 2014
Summary: I found this iron at a thrift store in nearly mint condition. Knowing the Rowenta/Krups brand, I figured that for $7.00 I had just scored a great deal. I turned it on at the store and it promptly heated, so I unplugged it and bought it. Once home and after a single "session" of ironing, I have never been so disgusted with a household appliance. They're selling these for around $75.00? Seriously?
Summary: I bought this iron a little over a year ago. It is a terrible iron. It spits out rusty crud and seems to know when you are ironing a white or lighter color fabric. It just goes into cleaning mode when it wants to and when it shouldn't, Save your money...and your garments and look elsewhere for an iron that is more reliable and works as it should.
Great Quality retractable cord steam iron for the price!

Summary: The reason I got this was because it looked like a good quality steam iron with a retractable power cord. I wasn't disappointed I- don't think you would be either if you buy this... Especially at the price.
Supreme Hardware substituted product with a lesser model I didn't order!

Summary: I ordered the DX1900 Rowenta iron and Supreme Hardware sent me a totally different iron in a different color. I am very disappointed with Supreme Hardware and would not buy another product from them. Intentionally substituting products as if a customer wouldn't notice is not something a reputable vendor would do.
Summary: this is my 2nd Rowenta DX1900 iron - 1st was a xmas gift a long time ago - and it started leaking - ordered a new one just because I like it so much - especially the auto off!!!! 1st one might have started leaking because I never slid the lever over 2 dry when I filled it so making sure I do this time - I sew in the winter months constantly so use it ALL THE TIME then! Highly recommend this one!
Summary: When this iron stays on, it works fine. However, it turns off on its own constantly - whether I'm in the middle of using it to iron or not - and it is very difficult to turn back on. The instructions say to shake it to get it to turn on, but I have to shake it very hard and for a long time, and sometimes even this does not work. Very disappointed, especially since Rowenta is supposed to be a good brand.
Summary: This iron seems to have a very sensitive safety switch. It easily activates if you have it in the storage position or if you are a slow ironier. If you learn to iron at a rapid pace the iron and its automatic steam capability will more than easily keep up with what you are doing and then comes the "Effective" part of it's name. I would rather have to pick up the pase of ironing than to burn a hole in my clothes or set the room on fire!
