Summary: The bad points first: the focussing should have been geared at about half what it is. It takes far too many turns from one end to the other. Weight, all 80mm scopes are heavy, this is more than most. Difficult (nearly impossible 88mm I think) to get filter to protect the main lens. Good points: 1) The optics are excellent 2) The eyepiece is 1:1/4 fit. Meaning the unit is able to take on the many eyepieces available.
Summary: This scope is quite large and very heavy so you will need a good strong tripod to mount it on, but the quality of manufacture, and the image you get through this scope is superb. I do intend to get the adaptors needed to fit my SLR to the scope, but even taking hand held shots with my compact held to the eyepiece reveals individual seeds in a bird feeder about 30 yards away.
Summary: The 80 mm primary lens aids Bright & Crystal clear images, with 2 x focus controls, normal & fine, normal focus on subject and fine tune to crisp image, 20-60 Zoom excellent but loses edge progressively thru the range, up to x35 magnification very good. Excellent Birding & Nature viewing. Excellent overal spec competing with scopes at significantly higher pricing.
