Great little scope

  • Excerpt: I bought the Celestron C90 primarily for lunar imaging due to its longer focal length (1250mm). For the price, it's a great buy and should provide a lifetime of use. It comes with a simple yet adequate backpack for storing the scope and supplied accessories. I've coupled the C90 to a Manfrotto tripod and 502HD video head and it works great. Easy to setup, move and lock down. The day I took it, I captured a few shots of the moon and was very happy with the results.
  • Pros: Astronomy, Compact, Strong Magnification

Great product

  • Excerpt: I bought this scope for the range but will also use it for 'planet fun'. Haven't been to the range yet but live in the country. we all have 4 or more acres. My photo tripod was REALLY shakey so I bought a mike stand for $ and it seems solid now. Can see my neighbors screw heads in his metal building at 3 & 4 hundred yards away on a dull day and its steady. The Scope is very well built.
  • Pros: Bright Eyepiece, Sensitivity Controls, Strong Magnification

Seems like a good all around scope.

  • Excerpt: In fairness, I don't know too much about scopes, but the image is pretty clear, and it's easy to focus. The scope seems well made.
  • Pros: Bright Eyepiece, Strong Magnification

  • Excerpt: Orion sells an adapter for its Maksutov scopes that will fit this Celestron. With the adapter ( about $20) all SCT accessories will work on this Celestron.

Well built and versatile

  • Excerpt: Purchased for astronomy and long distance birding. The build quality of the optical tube feels excellent. It was heavier than I expected. My Slik 330 EZ tripod head does not handle the weight very well; particularly when tipping up for a higher view. Interestingly, the head works much better in "vertical position" with the head tipped forward and the camera platform unlocked. The scope balances and stays where it is placed.
  • Pros: Strong Magnification
  • Cons: Heavy

Great deal for my pupose

  • Excerpt: I needed an inexpensive spotting scope for rifle practice. I tried both Celestron and Barska zoom spotting scopes and found both wanting. Then I realized a 90mm MAK telescope with a 17mm eyepiece gives me a mag of around 75x, perfect for eyeballing targets at 100 yards. (I already had a still photo tripod.) The set up, for my use, is fantastic. Clear, sharp, huge exit pupil, wide field of view. Tremendous.

Excellent Scope!

  • Excerpt: Used it a variety of times, watching wildlife, with the 32mm plossl eyepiece that it came with and was shocked at how clear and crisp the image was. I've heard nothing but great reviews with the new C90 and took a chance at buying it and I would recommend it. I don't use for star gazing so I can't comment on that.
  • Pros: Good Price Point, Portable, Sturdy construction
  • Cons: Might Be Heavy For Some
