Orion Adapter

Adorama
19 December 2013
  • Excerpt: Orion sells an adapter for its Maksutov scopes that will fit this Celestron. With the adapter ( about $20) all SCT accessories will work on this Celestron.

Well built and versatile

  • Excerpt: Purchased for astronomy and long distance birding. The build quality of the optical tube feels excellent. It was heavier than I expected. My Slik 330 EZ tripod head does not handle the weight very well; particularly when tipping up for a higher view. Interestingly, the head works much better in "vertical position" with the head tipped forward and the camera platform unlocked. The scope balances and stays where it is placed.
  • Pros: Strong Magnification
  • Cons: Heavy

Great deal for my pupose

  • Excerpt: I needed an inexpensive spotting scope for rifle practice. I tried both Celestron and Barska zoom spotting scopes and found both wanting. Then I realized a 90mm MAK telescope with a 17mm eyepiece gives me a mag of around 75x, perfect for eyeballing targets at 100 yards. (I already had a still photo tripod.) The set up, for my use, is fantastic. Clear, sharp, huge exit pupil, wide field of view. Tremendous.
  • Pros: Bright Eyepiece, Strong Magnification

Excellent Scope!

  • Excerpt: Used it a variety of times, watching wildlife, with the 32mm plossl eyepiece that it came with and was shocked at how clear and crisp the image was. I've heard nothing but great reviews with the new C90 and took a chance at buying it and I would recommend it. I don't use for star gazing so I can't comment on that.
  • Pros: Good Price Point, Portable, Sturdy construction
  • Cons: Might Be Heavy For Some

Great buy, forget the bad reviews

  • Excerpt: First off, you need a solid tripod. Very easy to assemble no tools required. Sharp images and great depth of field, I will be using this scope to take pictures of nature, people and space. All I need is an adapter for the focuser and the camcorder. It's a bit heavy, that would be my only complaint.
  • Pros: Solid construction, Strong Magnification
  • Cons: Heavy

Great little scope!

  • Excerpt: I have truly enjoyed this scope! I got great views of Jupiter, Saturn, the Orion Nebula and of course the moon. The finderscope was a little tricky but once I got it aligned it performed ok. I really don't have anything negative to say about this scope, it performs well for a small aperture scope. You will not be disappointed with this scope, as long you are familiar with the limitations of a 90mm aperture scope.
  • Pros: Compact design, Good Eyepiece, Sharp Images, Strong Magnification
  • Cons: Marginal Finderscope

Outstanding

  • Excerpt: I use it mostly for terrestrial viewing, on a video tripod, with a couple eyepieces. Terrific sharpness and brightness. I just don't see how you could beat it for the price. There's really nothing negative.
  • Pros: Bright Eyepiece, Sensitivity Controls, Strong Magnification
