Summary: Wow, this was a great item. It works great with my computer. I mainly use it for my dj equipment. Simple to plug in, although configuring it maybe slightly complicated, for certain electronics.
Summary: Though I have 5.1 Sub woofer set in Home I wanted to have one in My Boarding place. There for I purchased this Product & It realy works well. Quality is Super. Installed Drivers automatically. My Only Worry is I couldnt Install the relevent software downloaded from Zalman Website. But any It works superbly.
Summary: I wanted a small external usb sound card for my linux/xbmc multimedia center. Stereo sound is working out of the box, 5.1 wont (no AC5.1 driver/setting found at the moment). Channel mapping is working with alsa (rear speakers output the same sound as the front speakers). It fits my needs.
Summary: Works GREAT. Sometimes, however, if you put your computer in "sleep" mode and awaken it, you have to disconnect, then reconnect the USB connector to "refresh" the unit, and it works again. But it does a super job of creating 5.1 surround from a 2.0 (Dell) laptop! Remember to go to the Zalman website to download their driver to make it work.
Summary: I bought it due to its relatively low cost. Now that I've used it, it would have been a deal for twice the money paid. It is actually fairly good! The 5.1 optical with 3.5mm adapter meshes well with my entertainment system. Honestly for a low-cost USB 5.1...it cannot be beat. The only real negative is it becoming a bit flaky after a time, but unplugging/replugging cures that every time without exception.
Summary: surround on a laptop can't beat the price of the refurbs plugged it in and driver automatically loaded. chsnged number of speakers in Windows Sound/speakers/configure VLC Tools/Preferences - show settings: all audio/output modules - choose waveout or direct x audio/output modules/waveout or direct x - choose "usb audio" device save restart vlc tested AAC, DTS, and AC3 files all played perfectly done except for awful lot of time stringing wire and power cables for...
Summary: I received this card Friday afternoon, and after uninstalling my old SoundMax software (easier said than done) and disabling my lousy on-board audio, I plugged in the USB cable and the device. Imagine my surprise when all my USB devices no longer functioned! Not even my self-powered hub! No mouse, no keyboard, nothing worked. I unplugged the sound card, and all was well again. Thinking I had a bad card, I was all ready to contact Amazon and get an RMA and send it back.
Summary: If you're looking for a cheap sound card that works and that you don't have to install then this is the one. There is a slight lag when the sound card initially receives data which only lasts for half a second or so due to the USB connection. It works great for movies, songs, and games. It is a good buy.
