Summary: Good tech support. The only thing I don't like is they don't have their own software to test the sound channels. They can point to a dolby webpage, but that is demo software that is an advertisement for dolby. It doesn't really offer insight to the output channels working or not working.

Summary: Installed driver and connected per directions w SPDIF output to Yamaha amp that previously ran 7.1 AOK. Nothing but two channel with this device (that was clean sound). Contacted Startech support for on line chat but no help at all. Returned.
Summary: I have a laptop/notebook computer with not much of a sound, so I bought this product, to be used with headphones. I have to admit that I read some reviews and was hesitant to buy it, thinking it would not work for my computer.
Summary: It is nice to hear movies and games through my optical home receiver. You need a toslink with a normal end with the other end being SPDIF. It's almost like the 3.5mm jacks for headphones. Multiple connection arrangements. I like this unit a lot.
