At the top of its class. Had installation issues.

  • Summary: What a great product, overall. I upgraded from USB interface and there's definitely a difference in latency for the better. The knobs are sturdy and you can feel each click while turning. The set-up was what I had the most difficulty with. I use Logic Pro for my DAW and I wasn't getting any sound out at first. I checked my system and software preferences and both were defaulting to the PreSonus, so I wasn't sure what the issue was.

Best value and most versatile portable external audio interface around

jeffk8293, Ebay
16 April 2012
  • Summary: Bought this after 2 years of struggling with Win7 and an x-fi audio card, because the price had dropped about $200, it`s a choice that I`ve never regretted. I record all my instruments directly into an i7 desktop at 128 samples/32bit. There is no real comparison of upgrading from an x-fi, recording a chinese accoustic/elec.

Great product; portable, easy-to-use and sounds great.

  • Summary: Really solid product. Easy to use, great quality. I use it exclusively for recording guitar: I am running an Axe-fx ultra strait through this into logic. Set up was easy, really portable and sounds great. Having a monitor out is really useful also - sometimes I just just it for jamming, not even recording!

Best A/D for the money

fusion26uz, Ebay

  • Summary: This is a great peice of kit for the money. This is my 2nd one, and my 5th presonus product. I've always had great experiences with their software & sound quality. They are rugged, but not indestructible. I've encountered some hardware problems in the past, but I'd still put their build quality well over the competition. The Mic pres are not the deadest quiet, but they do have a nice sound to them - a good compromise for the money.

Wonderful part

  • Summary: Also a longtime user of the preceding product, the FireBox. This is a great followup product, with gentle enhancements all the way around. I'm especially fond of the improved virtual-mix software. The old one was adequate - but this one is very nice and usable. It's hard to say for *sure* but the sound quality feels smoother and gentler on this part than the FireBox.

FireBox User for 3 years

  • Summary: Presonus retired the FireBox which I have used in my home studio for about 3 years. This FireStudio mobile is pretty much the same thing. + The sound quality from this unit is good. + The preamps are also good. + The phantom power works and I have used my Rode NT1A with this without a problem. + Chassis is made of metal - The knobs are flimsy - The FireWire connector(s) are easy to break. One of the ports on my FireBox broke. I have no idea how.

the best mobile audio unit available for the money

Jake Smith, amazon.com
25 November 2011
  • Summary: I love my Presonus Firestudio Mobile. It's got good preamps and they're pretty quiet. The setup was easy and the Studio One software works like a charm. Everything about this unit makes it a first choice for fast, easy recording. I like the firewire interface, they tend to be less jittery than USB. I also like the fact that the latency is not an issue. Everything records smoothly and accurately. I'm probably going to buy a second unit.
