6years and counting...

H. L., Newegg
1 May 2010
  • Summary: It has been around for a while, so there may be newer offerings. However, the Delta 10/10 has & continues to serve it's purpose.
  • Pros: IMO, best interface for the price. Has served my studio well for over 6 years. Mac/Pc compatible (even works in Vistax64). Use it in many apps...mainly Ableton 8. Great for anyone who needs solid, lo-lat I/O for recording etc.
  • Cons: none

Amazing, top-notch quality.

Robert V., Newegg
2 November 2009
  • Summary: If this thing holds up, it's likely that I'll continue to use it for as long as it will work. I never track more than 1 or 2 things at a time, so I use a small Yamaha mixer and use the inserts to control input.
  • Pros: This thing is AMAZING. I purchased this in 2001 and have been using it day-in and day-out ever since. During these 8 years I've not had one single problem with it - the sound quality is second-to-none. This thing is a workhorse!
  • Cons: DRIVERS. When I first bought this there were countless driver problems for various chipsets etc (crackling, latency, etc). By 2004 they finally got it right for XP. Now I want to go Windows 7, but I hear the beta drivers are worthless and people have to hack workarounds. Unless AVID made some cha...

Best pro audio soundcard

Henry B., Newegg
18 February 2009
  • Summary: I bought mine 7 or 8 years ago because I had some extra money. Over the years when I've told people that I own a sound card that's more expensive than my video card people laugh but I have never regretted spending the extra money on this.
  • Pros: Amazing support when you realize that this came out almost a decade ago. Great drivers (ASIO and WDM) for low latency (1.5 ms) and quality made. I bought mine in 2002 and it still works without a hitch.
  • Cons: M-audio take forever to make new drivers when a new OS comes out. However, the drivers for Vista 32bit and 64bit are now out. Vista drivers work on windows 7 so I'm not worried about it not working in the future.

EXCELLENT A/D.& D/A converters

R. Rowe, amazon.com
10 August 2008
  • Summary: I've used 2 rack mount Delta 1010's for several years with absolutely no problems running under XP. Do your home work. The real CROWNING feature of the delta's are the A/D converters. That's supported in countless professional reviews.

The only choice

Anonymous, Newegg
3 May 2008
  • Summary: I have professional studio monitors and when I want to switch to headphones it's kind of a pain unless I route the 1 and 2 outputs into my mixer and the mixer to the speakers and the headphones. I'd rather have a set of outputs for each.
  • Pros: The most professional sound you can get from a pc. If you need more than 8 simultaneous inputs, you'll have to get more than one of these, but the drivers support up to four. The trick is to find a mixing board with direct outs so you have control over the separate channels on the way in. Using "...
  • Cons: Would be nice if M-Audio offered the mixer you'll need for this. There's no way to plug in headphones, only outputs 1 and 2 and s/pdif work for normal applications like windows media player. The rest of the outputs are for routing seperate tracks from your DAW software.

Good card

User, amazon.com
4 October 2007
  • Summary: I have had this card for nearly a decade. It's a very good card. The support has been good, although I agree they're a little slow in releasing Vista drivers. I have had a problem with a capacitor in the card going out --- twice now.

AWESOME

Dave T., Newegg
17 July 2007
  • Pros: this thing is awesome! I've had one for over a year and am looking at buying another. It has 8 analog channels that port right into my mixer. The midi i never really use. Spdif is a nice option as well! GREAT SOUND QUALITY. I use this teamed up with Cubase SX3. My band has never sounded so good!
  • Cons: I wish it had more ports. Otherwise, just get another card and receiver and your set!

No Vista Driver

Christian Gelinas, amazon.com
3 July 2007
  • Summary: I have had trouble with so many other sound cards for DAW recording, but this card has always been there for me. It is very clean and has never been difficult to set up through numerous computer upgrades. In fact, it is the only piece of equipment that I started with and still use.
