Harsh sounding card

  • Summary: Obviously , depending on your audio setup , you may get different results. My setup consists of Two hi end Tower speakers powered by a 380 watt per channel ( at 8 ohms) amplifier. I believe this setup is good at exposing sound cards.

  • Cons: Both the Audigy and stock motherboard card sound much more natural and analog. I suppose this cards advantage must be the tons of sound manipulation software it comes with ( useless to a music lover like myself )

not supported in Vista 64 bit

  • Summary: Luckily for me, I dual boot Linux along with Vista 64 bit (I got Vista 64 specifically to support 4 or 8 gigs of RAM). Ironically, this card is supported fully with drivers included with the standard Linux kernel, but still unsupported in Vista 64.
  • Pros: High quality audio recording capability at a low price.
  • Cons: M-Audio is really lagging behind in driver support. As of this writing, they STILL only have Vista 64 bit drivers in a "private" beta.
