Summary: Get it if you need a sound card, I didnt, I regret
Pros: It was on discount when I had it, so, lets say very cheap!
Cons: I never really felt the difference... My speakers are average quality logitec and I just took out the sound card since it was messing up my drivers. My speakers were not turning off automaticaly when I was plugging in my earphones and I had to do it manualy wich was a real pain...
Summary: Probably better with SPDIF, but if your speakers aren't able to use it, don't bother with this card.
Pros: Crisp, clear sound and bass. Great surround sound
Cons: Anyone who has a recently bought motherboard will have onboard audio that closely matches this card. Not worth the $150. Haven't tried the digital out or the Dolby Live, because I'm not willing to spend the money on capable speakers.
Pros: Worked great for 8 months, also had great sound. Then it was downhill from there. Only reason it gets 2 eggs vs 1 is I got it on sale for $60-70...Get what you pay for I guess.
Cons: After 8 months is started producing a high pitched back ground noise as well as picking up background noise from the video card fans (the sound would increase/decrease as I adjusted the fan speed) Nothing was changed prior to this happening. IE. headphones, wire(s), settings, card placement, and ...
Summary: This is the third burnout I've had on a Fatal1ty product so that tells you what I think of creative at this point. These are poorly made and are not the product we bought back in the day. All the gold in the world on this card and you still cannot have one that works for two years straight.
Pros: Latest version of EAX Hooks up to anything Wide Game Support
Cons: Machine Resource Use Burnout Failures This is merely a re-badge and form factor change of PCI card and still has all it's failings. 109 SNR sucks when 124+ is out.. (Those cards are more than twice as loud for the hiss they generate!)
Summary: Not a worthwhile upgrade over my MOBO optical out. I bought this because my MOBO's optical out can't encode Dolby 5.1. The new card can encode game-based surround sound over the optical, and gets recognized by my home theater system as Dolby digital.
Cons: I thought the Radeon Catalyst software was bad until I used creative's configuration software. The drivers in the box won't work with windows 7. You have to download new ones, then download a patch for dts encoding, and download a patch for Dolby Digital Live encoding. I didn't understand you nee...
Summary: Due to continual problems with Creative drivers and software, this will be the last time I purchase a SB card.
Pros: Good card...if you can get it to work properly
Cons: Horrible software and drivers from Creative. It was a nightmare just to get it to funtion properly. The shipped software and drivers were not compatible with the card. Had to DL additional items and even then it was flakey. Pops and crackles were a little too common.
