Sounds amazing when it is working

Summary: + Superb sound + SPDIF optical out to receiver using DTS makes my stereo music into 5.1 surround sound - Poor drivers (Problems using standard Windows sound control panel, forced to use Creative's software) - Very unstable (reinstalled drivers 3 times in the past 2 months because card goes missing)...
Summary: Don't buy this if you want to have both headphones and speakers plugged into the card at the same time. There is a hardware switch that disables the other outputs when headphones are plugged in, and there is no way to switch between outputs without physically unplugging your headphones from the...
Summary: I regret buying this card. The crackling took forever to figure out and I ended up just abandoning front panel audio.
Pros: -Creative ALchemy adds a nice touch to certain older games
Cons: -Crackles while Windows boots up -Broke after a few months: front panel sound is full of crackling and whining noises -The software is obese and each component has to install and uninstall separately, which takes forever. -The software offers you a chance to save hundreds of MB's of downloaded fi...
Summary: STAY AWAY FOR CREATIVE OR BUY A Warranty FOR THE Seller ,and don't use there support page because it will be useless .been waiting for a month for replay form creative support all i want is to to see if i can get or buy a new front panel w/ cables ,that ant hard
Pros: the sound card is really good when use by it self ,good sound while gaming ,the front panel is CXXX.
Cons: The drivers for the sound card are not that great but able to work around it by just uninstalling and re installing drivers.NOW the front panel is not great at all the cables that are you used are bad and i mean bad ,if your not careful there will break or worst short out your card or panel. If yo...
Summary: Know your hardware before purchasing. ~"Take it from a geek."~
Pros: Great card and awesome features. It has the potential for great audio but...
Cons: This product will malfunction with N-Force mainboards. The popping and cracking is due to a compatibility issue with N-Force type chipsets. I have tried this product on 4 different systems and all give the same results. Research has been done and Creative Labs. and N-Force are not a good mix.
Cons: If you turn off your computer, most of the time the sound will not work anymore when you turn your computer back on. That is until you reinstall the sound drivers. The last update for this card was back in July of 2010
Summary: I'm staying with my soundblaster Live! 5.1 card/front panel. Yes it's old but it is still FAR better than anything Creative has put out since. The front panel of the Live! 5.1 has the full 1/4" jacks for headphones and mic (with separate volume control knobs), has MIDI in/out, digital and SPDIF...
Pros: They brought the front panel back.
Cons: They didn't give us all the features of the Soundblaster live 5.1 front panel. The sound isn't any "better".
Summary: Their support was adept at keeping you from actually receiving any help, as they were well practiced in bureaucracy. I gave it two stars because at least (after much speculation) it seems to be fine hardware-wise...that is, it wasn't *physically broken* at least.
Pros: Newegg service rocks, as always. Shipped on time. <3 Bought it because I wanted a sound card to go with my 5.1 speaker set, and the front panel was a selling point to me because of the convenience of having the headphone/mic jacks and volume control on the front of the computer, and at the time t...
Cons: 1. DRIVER SUPPORT. 2. Price. 3. DRIVER SUPPORT. Creative has the worst driver support I have ever encountered for a well known brand. I knew this going in, but I could not imagine Creative not supporting what was basically their flagship of soundcards, and that fact appealed to me because I wante...
Summary: I bought this hoping I would be able to use it to record music through the multiple mic/RCA inputs. Since none of those worked, this card's usefulness to me was nil. Newegg is charging me the 15% restocking fee for returning this junk. Will be shopping local next time.
Pros: Looks nice, good presentation. Has a little "X-Fi" light that lights up, which is pretty cool if you have a window on your case.
Cons: Bare minimum linux support - could get sound out of it, but no better than the onboard sound of my motherboard. One of the mic inputs was giving a constant hiss, and the front RCA inputs did not function at all. Overall huge disappointment and pain in my [rear].
