• Summary: Remember to use unified drivers! Mine works with no problems and it was so easy to set up EQs with Xonarswitch
• Pros: - Clear mids and highs, with good, deep bass, - Dolby 7.1 sounds amazing, - unbelievably affordable price, especially when price matched
• Cons: - no headphone amp, although it's not needed unless you have like 200 ohm impedance headphones

• Summary: At some point, the onboard sound just make music drag and not enjoyable. This card makes no drag, but produces silk smooth sound. However, the driver on disk crashed my computer at installation. The downloaded version from Asus website installed smoothly. The software interface kind of confusion and nowhere to find help. Still the card works and produces sound as expected.

• Excerpt: I installed the Xonar DX sound card on a Asus P6X58D Premium motherboard to replace the onboard 7.1 sound. I am using a Klipsch Pro media 5.1 sound system and it had never sounded the way I thought it should. With this sound card installed the difference is amazing. Dynamic range is fantastic and bass is great. The Klipsch system now sounds like it should. Xonar dx is highly recommended.
• Pros: Easy To Install, Easy To Use

• Excerpt: No, It's not a Xonar STX! but I really like this sound card!

I listen to music, Play video games and watch ripped blue ray movies (legitimately of course)

Improves the sound quality in general. this is just night and day from the on-board sound I listened for over a week (waiting for this card to be available)

Disclaimer: I have another PC with the Xonar STX... Not even touching it...
• Pros: Easy To Install, Easy To Use, Good Audio Quality

Best Sound Card I Have Ever Had

Anonymous, Newegg
4 June 2013
• Summary: I can say with all sincerity that everything ASUS promised they delivered upon. I discovered no operational annoyances related to how the card was designed or how the drivers are written.
• Pros: Where to start. First, I have owned just about every major variant of sound card since the days of the original Sound Blaster 8 bit ISA. I have since owned C-Media based cards, the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, Sound Blaster X-Fi, Auzentech X-Fi Forte, not to mention another variation of THIS card, the Xonar DSX, plus my most recent try...the Sound Blaster Z. So, you could say I have had some experience. I am not a true audiophile, but I am picky about my sound, and I am a...
• Cons: Every sound solution is going to have a con. Some of the cons are going to be related to what it COULD NOT give you, and perhaps what it DID NOT give you yet was promised.

• Summary: old motherboard does support 5.1, but when i upgraded to z906, nothing really changed, i got a bigger bang than the old z10, that's all. but clearly the motherboard is taking a toll, because it just kept restarting the speakers. so i got the dx7.1. there hasn't been a big improvement over the sound quality, i'd say 20% tops, but the base is better. a good card to get over the stock ones.
• Pros: easy to install., huge improvement over the sound card on the motherboard
• Cons: nothing remarkable, just a good sound card.

• Summary: I purchased this as an alternative to my motherboard's on-board sound solution after it started developing some weird issue. Rather than try to fix that issue, I decided to dodge the whole thing by installing one of these and I do not regret it one bit. The control panel also allows for numerous more custom settings than my on-board sound did. All in all, a great, moderately low cost upgrade over on-board sound.
• Pros: Excellent sound. A great improvement over on-board sound.
• Cons: Nothing really.

• Summary: This is the card you need if you want to set up an HTPC, if your Mobo is not equiped (older) to handle Dolby Digital, or home theater sound, or even if you want to upgrade your onboard sound. I tried three different cards from Asus, before I found this one. There is a difference between the price points of this and the cheaper cards.
• Pros: Amazing sound, Excellent features, Low profile (bracket included)
• Cons: setup a bit tricky, Need to update drivers for Windows 7, but works great
