Summary: I have used this card in a few customer builds. They have all been more than satisfied. In the 50 dollar price range, this is the upgrade to get when going from onboard audio. This card is certainly not audiophile grade, but is more than enough for the average user wanting better than onboard. The added bonus is the ability to upgrade the opamp section on the card. I recommend it to people on a budget.
Pros: Sound quality for price, and ability to upgrade opamp section.
Summary: Very nice card ! I upgraded from my 5.1 rocketfish and it is awesome for my 7.1. I wanted to buy a 7.1 soundcard for the razer Tiamat 7.1, but I didn't get the chance to test it, because Tiamat are still Back order. I didn't want to pay a lot for a soundcard and I was really surprise ! so many options and drivers and it work very good. There are so many other soundcards that cost more for less options and quality. I recommend this sound card !
Pros: Good price, nice drivers and very good overall
Summary: Perfect card if you want multichannel audio and don't want plethora of cables running around your PC. With DTS Connect which this card supports you can enable all of this via a single, thin optical cable. Great buy at this price.
Summary: I upgraded to this after being fed up with Creative poor drivers and spotty Dolby Digital Live support on my Audigy Platinum. For $36 after rebate this is a great buy. Windows 7 x64 drivers downloaded from Asus' webstie were a quick and easy install. The software package included with the drivers is useful and intuitive. DTS Interactive works like a charm and sounds great. From a pragmatic standpoint, it works the same as Dolby Digital Live.
Pros: Great drivers, useful software, DTS Connect, Great sound quality.
Cons: No SPDIF input. No technology for headphones.
Summary: Having owned an m-audio revolution and comparing to my new asus motherboard onboard audio this was a definite upgrade. TO the user who said upgrading his headphones made a difference, yes headphones make a difference they are part of the equation, if you have cheap headphones you wont get great sound. This card however does produce an upgrade in audio depending what your coming from.
Pros: Good sound quality for music uses same sound processor as higher end xonar cards for half price, Can output two channel to my headphones or speakers while subcutaneously outputting optical to my receiver. This is great as on my other sound cards I would have to switch options in the control panel to switch sources
Cons: Volume has to be at 50 percent or distortion occurs
Summary: I cant really write a review on this product because i bought it and it would not fit my motherboard as i have a asus rampage extreme 4 board and i did not relise that it needed a plain pci slot so i learnt another lesson as i thought i knew every thing about building pc's.Anyway i sent it back and Amazon with out no quibble sent me a replacement the Asus xonar essence stx and am i glad i did, the sound from this card while the sound is on loud is brilliant, the onboard...
